An oldie but a goodie, bagseed from some buds my buddy picked up sometime back in '08 or '09. For a random seed pop this thing kinda blew my mind at first. Real special lady, gone too soon. Pop them bagseeds, people!

Some frosty looking bagseed you had there rasputin. Do you remember how the original sac the seeds came from compared to what you guys grew (taste, flavor, potency)? More than likely no contest I would imagine.

All the bagseed I have flowered was better then the sack it came from.

I guess that is the norm, many commercial growers chop early and
dry quick with little or no cure.

In my neck of the woods anyway. Part of the reason I started farming, lol.

It kinda was no contest but that had more to do with the fact that the stuff I pictured was some of the best shit I've ever grown. I could probably pop a couple hundred seeds from any given line and not find something substantially better than that plant.

She came from good genetics, the original bud was high end commercial so not like it was a bag of schwag. So it wasn't just how it was grown, by week 3 in flower I knew that plant was some next level shit compared to the gear I had been running at the time. She was a rare bird.

Sounds like you've been pretty lucky, Dropped Cat. Has most of the bagseed you've grown been from recent pick ups or older stuff from back in the day?

My experience with bagseed has been mostly poor, nothing worth writing home about minus the S99 one off. Here's just two examples of what could be many, first one is straight hay despite multiple runs and the second is a bit of a tease, didn't smoke half as good as it looked. My buddy has a ton of bagseed he's collected over the past 15 years so there's always a temptation to experiment with something but most of the time it hasn't been worth it. Bagseed is one of the ultimate gambles so I find it hard to resist sometimes. You just never know.

Bagseed hay, blah.

Slightly better than the above but still firmly in the mediocre category. A good lesson in "looks aren't everything". In week 6-7 it looked like she mighta been a contender, then she got harvested and smoked. Actually wasn't as bad as I make it sound, had a unique flavor but that was about it. If I had another 10-15 seeds of this stuff it might have spit out something worthwhile. You just never know.

From back in the day, the only bagseed I have included in a cross.

Lineage unknown, found in the fold of an LP in climate controlled storage
circa 1979, lol.

The more recent pops I did of bagseed were decent, but no keepers.

first plant I ever grew, many many years back.. coincidentally one of the best smelling/tasting and overall dank herbs Ive had to this day.. seed came out of a bag I got from a friend, labeled The Cave.. No idea what the male was or if there was one.. I know the bud came from cali..
Yumm, I can still smell her today..
