Just trying to get a little feedback on rather I should go 9 two gallon buckets or 16 one gallon buckets. Never grown in 1 gallons before but I did have a Nirvana AK 48 that yielded well in 1/2 gallon pot. Leaning towards that 16 one gallons but I wonder how much potential yield I'll loose per plant by the smaller pots but the larger numbers should compensate right? Need input from those with more experience in this area tgan myself. Just want to get t he most out of the little set up I'm working with. Thanks IC!

Hey edro,

I have a flower room that is 4x4 that will allow for a 2-2.5 ft plant. Also running a 400watt hps, sounds pretty close to your setup size. Just growing for myself and a friend or two, so yeild is not my first priority. I have grown in the past in what I call a 1 gal nursery can that measures 7 in. in height, and 6.5 in. dia. across the top.

The top picture is a Blubonic, the bottom, a couple of Flo from DP. Both these were vegged probably 3-4 weeks and are at about 55 days flower, standing about 14-16 inches. I think I had maybe 6 plants in this run and space was obviously not an issue. Have no idea how much weight they yeilded but it filled 2- gal size jars almost full.

Main problem I see with the small cans are all about watering as they gain size. In mid to late flower, they will need daily watering if not more, depending in heat and humidity. This would be a major ass pain with 16 pots, if watered by hand. I always check the root ball after chop and have never seen anything that looked rootbound. They sure are easy to handle in 1 gal pots.

edro,

A few more details. I grow in a mix of 50/50 blend of pro-mix and homemade compost, maybe a little espoma-plant tone at start of flower. Because of the watering frequency, I have switched to a Pennington #2 pot, measuring 8.5 in tall and 9 in across top. I have plants in late flower now and they need water every 2 days

Thanks Keif! I grow in soil. Pure Blend veg and bloom as nutes. Probably do 9 two gallon pots this run and go for 16 one gallon pots next run to compare yield. I just grow for me and a friend or two so it's more the variety but always trying to improve my final product. Your input is much appreciated.
