Gavita, EP, bare bulb readings?

I saw a thread a while back which was locked that was going to compare vertical growing to the new gavitas/EP lights. Was the info ever made available? Has anyone done any comparisons?

I haven't been able to find any research comparing yields/quality of vert bushes vs scrog using the same grow space.

Let me throw a little recent personal experience your way; up until recently, I ran trellis about 7' x 3 1/2' = 24.5 ft² under 2 kW, sealed and vented Magnum xxxl Ochos. My best was 4# on one of those.

Now one of my vertical silos is 50 ft² around just one bare thouie, and I'm looking roughly at the same yield my first time out. Its footprint is roughly 15 ft². Deets in my thread in my signature.

Gavita DE bulbs are emphatically not to be run vertically, according to the mfr. It screws up their heat dissipation pattern which then negatively impacts their efficiency, was the reason I was given.

The truth is, I wanna try it anyway!

Nice, Thanks for the insight.

I wasn't suggesting to run gavitas vert, more of a comparison between say a proper scrog with gavitas vs vert... same space, same watts, same veg times. Only difference being the light and plant orientations.

Think I got a way to run them vert it would be a vert donut 8-10 foot across ! 6 plants in 50 gallon smarts :woohoo:

Im running four 600w se gavita bulbs and they definitely put out a lot of light they are perfect for vert and seem to get good penetration.

Some say it can't be done because of the ballast but the guy from gavita said it had nothing to do with the ballast it was the bulb because there is no gas in the bulb and the temperature might be off but hanging vertically dear God put a laser on it fine what temperature runs at horizontal make it run that vertical look at the double ended bulb set up for replacement in adjuster wing you'll see what I'm thinking
