Where i work they furnish all employees with a laptop. i just got a new one and I got to keep the old one as my own personal PC. I am not very PC literate its just a tool to use for my job.

Since I got to keep the old one and its much faster than the 9 year old model I am typing on now I wanted to use it for personal use.

My old work PC came from our corporate office meaning they buy it and set it up and send it to you. When I log on I go through my work domain name. Not a VPN just when I log onto my PC it always asks for my password and below the password is the domain name of my employer.

Is that still directing all my internet traffic through my corporate server and therefore in theory they could monitor what i am looking at?

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what I will do but I will not use the PC until I have this figured out.

sound like you're just logging on to your computer...usually you'll need to log directly into a VPN session and it'll say VPN...if you have your own ISP and your not on your companies network you should be good to go

Probably not since you are in different location, but why take a chance? You don't want all that work crap on there anyway, so format the hard drive and reinstall Windows 7 if you can. You can easily download a torrent for Win 7.

I agree wipe it. But I wouldn't even mess with Windows on it anymore myself. I would just go to http://www.ubuntu.com/ which is super easy peasy. Easy download. Easy/user-friendly is their mantra I think :) The old Ubuntu versions would even wipe Windows off completely or let you load both Windows or Ubuntu on the hard drive so you could choose which to run. But I think Microshit blocked that now. The Ubuntu OS just one Linux OS. You might like Mint better, you could Google it. BTW, all that is absolutely free, unlike Microsuck.
