First IC diary: Smile & Killer Kush

Eyup.

As stated in my introduction post I've started to stop spending so much time on my regular forums and spread my roots a bit, so to speak, to hopefully learn and share some of the knowledge we all share.

Im currently computer-less and relying on access to Mrs Kippers laptop to update so I apologise if updates are perhaps a bit irregular.

The strains:

Smile by OT1:

"Smile is an indica sat hybrid, much more indica dominant than anything I have ever released before. I made it for people who don’t have a lot of head room and would like to get an idea of what a sativa high is like. Every bit of feedback confirms the sativa spirit is dominant in this cross.

The good things about Smile in my opinion are, is it is not couchlock, everyone that has smoked the bud says it puts a big old smile on their face every time they have a puff of it. I think this cross has a really nicely balanced and quite complex energetic up high. One tester said he thought I should to call it prozac from a seed, as it does what prozac ought to do.

Its a good sog type with little side branching.

Flowering is 8 to 9 weeks, plants stretch very slowly for about 6 weeks, not quite doubling in height at crop time. So flowered at 12 inches most will go to 22 to 23 inches.

Final point Smile respond very well in increased psycho activity if there is some metal halide light when flowering."

Killer Kush F1 FV by Sweet Seeds
"Feminized and non-autoflowering version of one of the most famous strains from the West Coast of USA, developed around the year of 1994 in Sunset Beach, South California, the Ocean Grow Kush, better known as OG Kush.
With an ultra fast flowering, our Killer Kush is the resulting hybrid from the cross between a selected 3rd generation autoflowering genetic line leaning to the indica side and an elite clone of OG Kush. The result is a very potent plant with a very fast flowering.
This strain produces large and aromatic buds, all covered by a thick layer of resin. The aroma is sweet, citric and acid with exotic tones reminiscent of aromas from the Chem Dawg – Diesel family."

The gear:
2 x 120x120 tents (ones 230cm high the other just 200)
one tent has a MH/HPS with digi ballast and a parabolic reflector, the other tent has a gavita 600 in there (got it cheap) so giving that a try this time
6" L1 (fast flow) extraction fans with 150x600mm filters with acoustic ducting.

feed:
Testing out some different pks/silicons this round but my recipe for coco is as such:

canna a&b
roots excel
Silicon (usually plant magic silicon but trying out growth technology and amino treatment this round)
canna boost
Plant magic platinum/Rock Resinator
Terpinator

I feed by hand in veg and then in flower I rig up my home made RTW dripper which I'll post a picture of when i get them out.

We've recently moved castle kipper so my little plants and mothers got shoved down a cellar and neglected and therefore are looking worse for wear but i'm not worried, they'll pick up.

Plants are on an e.c of about 1.1 and pH is at 6.0. Smiles have been in the tents just under a week and the kush have been in for 2 days.

ok enough rambling, picture time:

Its been about a week, so heres an update from castle kipper.

Smile:

Looking awesome I can't really complain, they've really taken and off to flying start. Very hardy plants these smiles, im excited to sample them! (miles before they're even done lol) currently on an E.C of 1.2 and I'm going to keep them at that over the next week. Currently they're taking 2.5L every other day and that seems just about right for them, but they're progressing I imagine next week I may have to be watering every day. I have been thinking about doing multiple feeds a day as well, so I am aiming for around the third week of flower to notch it up to three feeds per day.

Smiles are being fed:
Canna A&B
Liquid Silicon
Roots Excel
Hygrozyme
magne cal

picture.php

Killer Kush:

As aforementioned I fucked these up a bit by leaving them down the cellar and letting them go too dry, and they're STILL getting over it! They're picking u by the day and they've come on in this last week I must say, so I'm not worried - they are slow growers though. I am noticing though that some of the 'damage' seems to be carrying up the plant, and it looks just like a cal def. Im using a gavita 600 in this tent, and a guy on another forum mentioned in a gavita thread that he was experiencing cal def due to the light being too close, he found putting the gavita to the top of his tent and leaving it there sorted the issue. So I've raised the light, and loaded the tank with cal mag in an attempt to conquer it early on. These are on 1.2 as well, and will be getting the same for the next week or two.

Killer kush are bein fed:

canna a&b
Roots excel
Hygrozym
magne cal
and amino treatment (its silicon isnt it, so thought id give it a go as these products interest me greatly, but so far its not seeming much cop lol)

Peace out, your thoughts, words of wisdom or whatever are greatly appreciated.

Eyup baz, I don't think so dude. I usually chuck a net in, but it
Never usually does anything as I still have to get the yoyos out so I think I might just do away with the net and save myself a tenner lol

Hey

Its been a week so thought I'd update. i've taken the pictures at lights off, so ive brightened them up a bit in photoshop. and the reason they're a wee bit droopy.

lights on temps 26/27 lights off temps 20/21 RH - 55 - 65%

Smile:

Coming a long really awesome, these are getting ready for the flip now. I unfortunately lost my other smile mother so I'm just down to this pheno but I'm still happy. Contrary to what i've read my smiles are responding absolutely awesomely to my training techniques, and are bushing out a dream. Roughly doubling in size every week, they really do grow themselves. I'm going to top every head again tonight, which should lead to about a total of 80 heads across all 4 plants, then at the end of the week I'll flip them.

Changed the tank again today and knocked it up at 1.3ec and ph 6

feed consists of:

canna a&b
magne cal
gt silicon
roots excel

been giving them a spray of rocket fuel twice a week.

Killer Kush

as aforementioned last week these were sick girlies but since raising the light etc they've come on lovely - still need a bit of greening up truth be told but they're miles better than they were. Going to give these another 2 week veg then flip I reckon. Noticing a distinct difference in pheno, one looks more sat and is quite stretchy, i've had the most problems with these two plants, the other two are more indica, fatter leaves and a lot denser (although one is a runt). The indica ones are the most kush looking I think, definetely my favourite two. I've changed some things with the feed because whatever I was adding in the tank wasn't reacting to each other very well. I came home one day and it'd bubbled over the side of the tank. After some snoopin etc i determined it was amino treatment, and that it was indeed over priced shite. So my mate gave me a bottle of that aptus regulator to try that he never got around to using.

They're still on 1.2 and will be for a bit yet I reckon, pH 6 tank consists of:

canna a&b
regulator
advanced meta boost (buddhas tree)
magne cal
roots excel

had the metaboost lying around from my last crop so thought id use it up.

its their second week of flower tomorrow.

killer kush's:

day 3 flower, so they'll get their first 12 hours of darkness tomorrow.. Going to put the net in tomorrow or something, but these are doing my head in with the defs, but going to make the new tank for them tomorrow and rig the kipper-dripper up and up the mag cal to 1ml/l

cheers Baz, smiles stayed shorter than I was expecting but im not fussed just means nodes will be closer together and an easy trim job lol

Put 10 smellyberry F2 seeds to germ, going to pick some select females to flower along side the kippers and a select male to do his work on the kippers for kippersxsmellyberry

plan is to stink up the kippers and reduce its stretch a bit as it does go for it.
