Vertical with leds

Was merely pointing out that a light mover isn't restricted to horizontal movement. As long as the weight of whatever you want to move is countered, vertical movement is quite a simple modification.

Good LEDs put out enough PAR for there to be some benefit in moving them. I see some great results from some grows, and feel a mover could bump things up, a little more. Just my thoughts, I use HID.

Multiple panels with piggy back electric connection is the solution

Which ones piggy back electrical connections?

I just need something to give me the same outcome but at a lot less amps/watts for lowering my light bill.

BUT aren't we all.

daisy chaining them will not provide any better light source over non daisy chained so theres no way to say thats the solution as its nothing a non linked light couldnt do. it may look cleaner but thats about it.

op should just look at EVERY led an go from there as the most important thing for what he wants is going to be the amount of light output from least amount of wattage consumed.

take a look here an see what you like if i was going to recommend a few to you i would look at the lumigrow,blackdog an california light works, there will be some new cob styles coming out sometime? but for whats out now thats what id be looking into if i was you. let us know what ya end up getting:biggrin:

i bought a used hgl 420x and it wont work for my set up on its own.i run 3 four foot by four foot by 6 foot high cabinets currently with 2 600's in each.
there is 4 plants (one on each wall)the 420x has 5 sides and with the lens does not give complete coverage on each wall.after seeing the light spread i pulled it out and put the 600's back in.i plan on trying it again when i get my 4 new diy 100 watt warm white cob leds that i am going to run at 50 watts each built.i plan on running them horizontal from near my exhaust fan at top of cabinet down to fill in the gaps in coverage from the hgl 420x.
i am doing this due to the fact that i run my 600's at 75% setting most of the time due to heat concerns unless it is winter.
i also plan on trying four more of the diy cob leds in another of my boxes with only 1 600 hps and see if 800 watts will at least match my results with 2 600s running at 75%(900 watts)
i have had my veg cabinet fully powered by leds for around 5 years now.the older leds sucked for flowering but veg great.
if the results from my 2 trials with the diy cob leds are good,i plan on building a 16 cob vertical led light with 4 sides and 4 cobs on each side for 800 watts total.

Ok.
Still doing a lot of research.
Thinking of doing 2 600watt HPS in the center (side by side) and 2 LED's panels overhead on a light mover taking care of 2 plants.
Again my room is set up like this; FOR NOW
Light=X
Plant=0

X0X
0X0
X0X

My room is a little bit of a rectangle so I will put 2 of the 600s beside each other and put a light mover over 2 plants (2 movers).

Thinking of one of these;
Diamond Series LEDS 3w led technology

http://advancedledlights.com/3w-led...ia73Kd_HiZcnsvpFHmpiSpRl0s6AchD-nuhoCWWHw_wcB

or the UFO 180watt single 3w chip;
http://www.dhgate.com/product/2014-...DCAS9jAGAmXL4UpuuMnwbdWer6BflpE14YRoCcpjw_wcB

Or 5watt chips
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HydroMASTER...518?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27faa0145e

Which do think would be the better of the choice?
If not one of these...which one?

google led cobs.they are easy to build and for 200 bucks you can have 200 watts that work great.rollitup has more on the diy led cobs

Be careful. 95% of the led grow lights are junk, maybe more. Either stick with HPS or build your own COB light. I posted a DIY light in this forum. The junk lights are much less efficient than HPS.

If you must buy one already built you can check out Area 51, Apache Tech, and for cheaper inferior stuff Platinum. It can get expensive up front.

Ive got two rooms on a flip flop and want to change to leds but do not know which ones to get.

Each of my rooms are 8'x8' about.
4 totes, DIY Undercurrent systems.
5 bulbs (all 600's) ; one in the center the others in the corners. Diamond set up.

Another veg room with 3-600's in a row over 18 5 gal buckets RDWC system.

Can any led light be hung vertical?
Which ones would you recommend to at least duplicate results?
Do I match watt to watt when I am buying?

CMP is going up in the North East and almost doubling by March of 2015....Got to do something.

Any help before I dive head first researching in the matter is greatly appreciated. :huggg:

8 x 8 rooms is a big space for LEDs, which do not radiate light like hps. Instead, they focus light directly below them. Can be done, but very expensive

Rarely will leds provide much useful umoles beyond 6" of the lights perimeter. The main benefit for leds is focused light in one direction

The time it takes to run a complete length of the light mover could be an issue. IMO, the plants away from the light won't be getting much light for a too long a period.

One option would be to concentrate on ~ 6 x 6 and place 3-4 panels that cover >2 x 3 above

SolarSystem600 (4 x 150= 600actual watts) will cover ~ 4 x 4 with,
according to mfg, 1702umol@12", 1236umol@24", 810umol@36" and cannabis thrives well under > 500 umoles

MSRP @$1395 w/Cree option ($1595)
If you open the canopies ala LST (to get more light into the middle of the plant), lowered bud development will be greatly enhanced therefor, side lighting should be moot

As to side lighting with leds (which will be farther away from the core of the plants you would need hi-intensity panels (like Amare Technologies), but in most cases bud building power beyond 3ft is going to be questionable

Drop by my thread to see SolarSystem300 and a SolarSpec 260 in action
