Vac ovens, and the method to your madness

OK so Ol' TS finally got a nice sexy A.I 0.9 cu ft. vac oven , this thing is the cats meoooow! , works great my first run was some nice og. ghost trainhaze #1 nugs, 170 G ,
- blasted into pyrex used 75 micron filter
- hot h20 double boil (h20 around 120-140 tap water)
-once the reaction stops, I scrap it on to parchment
- pre heat oven with material inside , to around 110 -115 F
( have heard of guys setting to 130 F for 2 hrs with material inside, then pulling Vac at 105=110 for up to 96 hrs )

I have achieved a honeycombish type of material , extremely tasty N smelly

which bring me to my main point of discussion , I feel that with these vac ovensthe purge can be done at such a low temp,due to reduced boiling
point in the oven, you can achieve a clean,nice tasting honeycomb , with ,more terps , as opposed to heating it to a higher temp to get your shatter consistency .


Lets talk different methods , how u achieve your honeycomb/ shatter , etc

I switched out the racks with 1/8 aluminum sheet and added granite to even out the heat.

Glass cut to the size of your shelf can be laid on top of your slab, with a piece of parchment between and when you pull a vac, it will evenly distribute it. If it gets too thin, or cumbersome you can fold the slab back into thick pile and do the same thing and it will spread it back to a thicker, round, pretty slab that is easier to manage than a thin slab of swiss cheese.

yah I picked up a piece of granite after hearing bout it from a buddy , I have never had to swish my paddy , got it pretty thin , on er own.....

u must spread the love , before repn kruch more , bahaahahah carrot

anyway I gunna be ruunin a few more batchs , try to fool around with temps, see how she goes , Im more of the mentality that I can keep it low n slow like 95-100 for like 4 days or so.

So far I notice quiet a difference running indica Vs sativa , also newer materials vs order stuff, the older producing a darker extract , I guessin due to resin aging ,....

Get an infrared thermometer and check the temps of your slab, compared to the temp you set on the oven...

Mine was 12 degrees off...Purging at 86 degrees F by accident!

yah I got one, been checking my slabs all over the place, mine is also a few degrees off, so I set it higher , around 108~110F at the moment on slab set at 120F on unit .

did u re-calibrate your unit or just set it higher to compensate?

No, I just purge at 86 for several days, then hit it with 122 for 1 hour to get that Pentane out...

hashof the titans techinque is really dope, ive been using two small baking sheets to sandwich my oil in preheat, been to lazy to buy the solid shelves.

if u leave ur oven on (between runs) it seems to hold a more consistent temp.
i think hashman was the first to point this out to me. rather than turning it off/on everyday and letting it warm up then pulling vac , in these cases ive noticed it will over shoot and ur extract will be alot hotter than the control says.
so now i just turn it down to 90 after each completed purge.
