Let' see....

Hello to everyone! It's been some time since my last grow and this time i decided i would go beyond my standards and check out a new, bigger grow!

I have a bedroom which i am not using, its 10x10x10 and i decided to dedicate it to growing. I was using grow tents in the past, this time i used only their frames to hang carbon filters, exhaust fans, bulbs etc. I put white poly in the walls around and i considered i was done....

Well, the truth is that things are not going very well....I am having problems even with the organic soil mix i prepared for this round, a soil mix i was using for 2 years now with success....Seems i overdid it with the bat guano or the neem meal, or it could be that while the soil was "cooking" i would let it get dry enough and it did not cook properly.

Anyways, this project was originally intended to run with 32 plants, various strains such as:

Jack Diesel by Positronics
Jack 47 by Sweet
Black Jack by Sweet
G13 by Barney
Kandy Kush by Reserva Privada
Sour Chiesel by Big Buddha
Amnesia by WOS
Pineapple Chunk by Barney
Jack Herer by GHS
Kalashnikova by GHS
Blue Dream by Humboldt
Delahaze by Paradise
Arnhest Sour Diesel by Humboldt

And some autos along the way, to get me some smoke while my photos will still be flowering.

First the bad news (the bad seeds). Jack 47 seems to be out of the game, its a pretty bad case of dud. I am not sure if i should blame the seed or the fungus gnats. I also had 3 seeds of G13, they don't seem to be doing very well. 1 Sour Chiesel is out of the way too it seems. Amnesia has been left a bit behind too. The others seem to be doing better.

They all showed signs of nute burn after being transplanted to their 5gal pots, i guess the soil proved to be a little bit too hot. They seem to be improving now. I have got the fucking gnats to face, i will go and get some Gnat off today and continue with the aspirin doses i have been giving them (thank you Retrogrow!!).

Some pics, i have already written too much:

First some from their first days, most of them sprouted at 09 September. So, most of them are 20 days since they sprouted from the ground today:

Their first days:

After a few days, they were transplanted in 0,5 gal pots:

A few days later i put some more seeds for germinations. And something weird happened. While the germination rate of the seeds was always pretty high, the newly sprouted seeds started forming deformities. Silver Kush for example looks like a mess, a couple of autos i planted get very slow, another couple died.

I am using Biobizz Light Mix for seedlings, it always served me well, i don't think this is the cause. I could blame fungus gnats maybe, i had not given them much attention because they had not caused problems in the past, but now i can see that they may have played their parts, those bastards. Something needs to be done IMMEDIATELY.

So, i am off for some Gnats Off today (where i live Gnatrol is not available). Anyways, i am left with about 26 plants, only 20 of them seem to be doing OK.

And not only that, after transplant of the bigger babies, they started showing these nute burn signs i told you.

Some days later (23-09):

Pics from today (29-09)

Things are going better for most of them, some like Sour Chiesel and G13 have stayed the same. Others like Silver Kush are shit....:

Last set of pics:

You can see the beastly 10" fan i have for intake in the first pic. I am gonna buy a variac today to dim it. Altough the muffled i made for it with rigid flexible duct and soundproofing materials does a good job, i can listen it in the night. And that's bad as you can understand. It brings air from outside. Still need to figure out my intake/exhaust setup.

For now i have 3x450 CFM fans for exhaust and this 1100 CFM 10" fan for intake.

In the second pic you can see the pump for the automatic watering system i am planning to make. Watering 20+ plants in 5 gal pots by hand is not funny in my books. I had 16 in my previous round and it was HELL, especially as they were crammed.

This pump pushes only 500 gal/h but its elevated 6' above pot level, so i think it will do the job for at least 15 of them. Anyone with experience can chime in and tell me if it would be ok for all 24 (hopefully) of them. I am planning for 4 drippers per 5 gal pot.

And some younger plants in the last pics. That's it for now. Feel free to ask me anything (for example how did i fuck up from the beginning of this round? :p).

hi weedlover , i dont see any fucking up , i see them just fine. Dont be so strick on your grow and enjoy it.
interesting seeds you picked , not a cookie - kush main stream grow again , more of a jack and diesel grow with some classic aditions to it.
i like the G13 as a choice , i m interested to see if it gives a good yield cause it certainly will be strong.
Kandy kush one of my favorites , i m sure will be one of the best in this grow.
Amnesia from WOS i wouldnt choose , because it is not Amnesia , its a blend of a little bit of everything.
Blue dream also may turn out very interesting, hope it gives you the strenght and yield of ssh and the smell of blueberry.
Jack Diesel not a big believer...
Jack 47 intrested in the yield , might find a keeper.
Black Jack lets see! again might have interesting yield and might find a keeper.
Sour Chiesel i think it will be delicius but to small
Pineapple Chunk , i dont like the cheese zonk high it may have
Jack Herer , nice to have a strait jack herer to see where your hybreds are leaning towards
Kalashnikova , i wouldnt grow
Delahaze may be nice , but i dont like there are no genetics
Arnhest Sour Diesel , again unkown genetics , but could turn out superb.
I ve subscribed and i m waiting for the show :)

Hey bro, thank you for passing by!

Kandy Kush is the best looking so far!
Amnesia has not advanced much...:(
G13 the same, although i have heard good words about it :(
My 2 blue dreams are advancing fine!
Jack Diesel, small plant so far.
Jack 47 is a dud sadly, i like its genetics :(
Black Jack goes well!
Sour chiesel so and so, one good, one stuck :(
Pineapple Chunk advances ok
Jack Herer very nice so far
Kalashnikova so and so
Delahaza is small yet, joined the show later
Arnherst goes well!
Forgot i have a Silver Cheese as well!
And Alquemista joined lately!

Pineapple Chunk, Jack Herer, Amnesia and Kalashnikova were not my choices during this grow. They were seeds left from previous purchase and it turns out i was lucky to have them!

I was interested in Silver Kush, but appears to be another dud as well:(

I want to grow some more and i have a timeline of about 110 days. What do you believe guys, i should add some more autos or photos to the game? The grow-shop guys suggested autos, said 12/12 does not hurt yield much but i beg to differ....If i purchase something it will be 5 seeds from the same strain, i get carried away by variety everytime and i lack yield later....

30 was the number instead of 40 in my pm dewd.....could be 40 once dialed , even more....

Good luck....DHF....:ying:....

Yeah, i may pop some more on the way! But with how much veg would those 40 be ok so as not to overcrowd the place and this becomes counterproductive? I should aim for 4 donuts of 2x600w if i got it right. Will do my best to achieve that!

Having some plants getting light from multiple sides makes me feel intrigued but i am sure it would create burning from the bulbs, difficulty to access them etc. Keep in mind that i have them in 5 gal pots!

Thanks for taking the time :tiphat:

Silver Cheese from who? whatever has cheese better you dont grow. Cheese in my opinion is strong and smells nice but has a sick sence of high. keep the silver kush and the jack 47 to make some seeds , it has good geens , res/pri has awsome seeds . Alquemista has old school geens to , seems it can give good solid yield. Keep it up! in my opinion dont pop more , let them veg longer to get the same yield and consetrate on what you have , its plenty allready. Start toping and pinching to. You mean vertical donuts of 2*600?

Hello to everyone!

Nonstop, to answer your questions, the silver cheese is from big buddha. Not going too well so far. On one hand i am thinking of vegging them in total for 60 days (until the first week of November), on the other hand i am thinking of getting 20 more seeds. These would be set to 12/12 from the start since time is pressing me. In this case i was thinking of putting them in 2 gallon pots and put them under the vertical hps to boost my yield a bit.

Seeds i am considering are 5xC99 (very pleased with the one i have so far, very good for v-scrog it seems), 5xIced Grapefruit, 5 xChemdogxVintage 2006 and 5 freebies i get from Attitude in this case.

Yes, i mean vertical donuts of 2x600 and to tell you the truth, it seems that to make full use of the screens i will have to veg for 2 months anyways.

Plants are doing better this week, the only problem i have is that i still see signs from nute burns and many fungus gnats caught in the flytraps and flying around when i am watering the pots (seems they don't like so much the mix of beneficial bacteria, aspirin and Gnatsoff i use with my waterings). I also got some Botanigard to use from now on.

Time for some pics:

In the first two pics you can see the mufflers i have made for my 6" 450 CFM fans. Rigid aluminum tube of 8" is used. I put a material named copopren in the inside (sound proofing material) and another material with sound-insulating properties on the outside of the tube. Make two mufflers for your 6" fans (one muffler for each side of your fan), use a speed controller at 80% speed and they won't make more sound than your oscilating fans (almost!).

Besides that, in the next pics you can see my plants. I want them to stretch in order to be used properly for the screens, am i supposed to have them facing 1/3 of the bulb to accomplish this?

In these pics you can see the window box i made for my 3x6" 450 cfm fans which are used for exhaust. You can see that they are bend in an angle where many CFM are being sacrificed. The reason? I have got window blinds like the one you see in the last pic.

All the air that leaves the room will go through those blinds if i don't have the window box. This is bad because the air that rushes through the small holes of the blinds makes a very annoying and rushing noise. So, i got the blinds up as much as i could without compromising my stealth (i live in the first floor and my balcony can be seen from various buildings around, so i don't want to raise the blinds fully).

Any way to remedy this besides making holes in the window blinds that would be obvious from a distance? I want straight ducts connected with my exhaust fans but this can't be done compromising all the stealth (rushing noise through the blinds, reflective material and ducts being visible if i raise the blinds fully). Any ideas are very welcome.

Going to upload individual pics of the plants tomorrow.

all plants look very nice dark green color. Does the room also have a balkony door other than the window?

Hello, thank you bro! I am doing changes into my room all the time, until i find the best ventilation combo among the others.

I have ended up with 27 plants (29 in total, 2 are duds). I am thinking about acquiring a few more seeds. You think that for a room like that, it would be too much?

Yeah, there is a balcony door. This fucking blind has troubled me too much considering ventilation. If i have the ducts straight leading to the blind, it makes much more sound. The only way to avoid all that noise was the window box i showed. But it hurts too many CFMs.

I am setting up the automatic watering system now. A simple system of a water pump, 2" tube, drippers and such. I wanna test it before i put it to work. Plants have started drinking more, so its nescessary. Otherwise its a major PITA.

Besides that, some appear to have been healed from the nute burns, others are still showing signs. I have 2 autoflowers as well that flowered.

One of the two flowered 10 days after germination ffs, its too little to have flowered from now. It seems to me like it is going to give 10 grams. Thinking about throwing it off or just leaving it in a corner and make space for bigger sisters (aka more seeds).

Thanks for stopping by :tiphat:

a good way to get rid of the ventilated air since you have a balcony is the folowing. Make a hole low in the wall at the point where your balcony ends. Buy some wood planks that are water resistant and make a double bottom box like the ones people put flowers in. Stick the box next to the wall where the hole you made is. Send the air throw the bottom section to the other side of the box and thrw the soil at the other end pointing upwards from inside the box. Fill the rest upper section with soil and plants so it hides the hole that lets the air out. I dont know if you understood what i said because of my bad einglish. Also if you are going to bye more seeds i d be glad to suggest some.

Hey bro, i think i got you but i am afraid i cannot follow your plan since i am renting this place :(. I am open to seed suggestions! I have been thinking about getting some C99 (it goes amazingly well so far, a bit overstretching as far as i am concerned but very suitable for vertical growing!). And some Iced Grapefruit as well.

These 2 strains are in my mind. I have already spent too much and i am looking for relatively cheap feminized seeds, 50/50 hybrids being my preference.

Other than that it seems that since i will be vegging for 8 weeks total, i may not need additional seeds. Would you guys germinate more seeds if vegging 18 plants in a 10x10 room for 8 weeks?

And what size pot am i supposed to have them when flowering begins after 8 weeks of veg? It seems that for some of them i will have to go with 7 gal pots minimum.

the problem is that even if you order new seeds now , thay will be way behind the rest of the grow and will produse very litle yield in the end. I think for a 10X10 room 18 plants are plenty. The strains you have dont strech much so if you see the plants are to small after 2 months veg , give them another 15 days , its not the end of the world.
As for the pots , id advise you change to smart pots and 10 gal minimum, it realy makes a big deference compared to the simple 5 gal pots you have. It gives the plants a much bigger engine.

Yes my friend, i get what you mean, they would be at least 5 weeks behind...Maybe what you suggest is a better solution...I have tried smartpots, dirtpots and other fabric pots but they are not deep enough and it seems to me plastic pots work just fine! This after many trials with bots plastic and fabric pots!
