1000w ebb n flow to RDWC

welp, popped 9 seeds about 3 weeks ago, 5 big biddha blue cheese and 4 pure AK. only one seed popped and I don't know which strain it is. lol.

then it was stretched from lack of light so I tied it up and put it under 2 2foot fluorescents
.

all ive been giving it is tap water. I just run tap water in my sink and set the plant in there for a few minutes. now im cleaning up my room so I can set up my ebb and flow and give it some proper nutes.

I have 10 gallons of RO water im going to start them on. . I have to put hang all my electrical cords and my CO2 controller. Also im going to be using GH floranova. I also have rapid start (which ill probably use), and floralicious plus. should I use the F+, directions say 1 teaspoon/5gallons.

well heres what she looks like now.
some tomatoes.

ill post again in a couple hours after I get the room set up
be back shortly.

ok, got my girl under the 400w MH. about how far do you think I should start my light above the baby? I have it at 32in right now. its air cooled so it doesn't get that warm and can get it to 12 inches at least.

got the 400w MH set up

Cant find my air stones are timer so the DWC is going to have to wait till pay day next week. The only thing im worried about is the net pot sits directly on the bottom of the tote, blocking off all the bottom holes. anyone ever do that before?

welp, going to switch to DWC right now to get the pot suspended off the ground so those roots can grow. I have my ec at 1.2 or 600ppm at .5 . so thinking about dropping that as well. well ill take pictures as soon as I do that. be back in a couple hours. peace out.

oh yeah, ph started at 5.3 and then went up to 5.7 so hopefully I wont have to touch it much within a several day period. im hoping that once the plant starts taking up more nutes, me adding nutes every other day will keep my ph stable as well. Is it bad to ph your res every day?

ok got the DWC going.

ok got the DWC going.

Cleaned me out a 10 gallon tote and drilled a couple holes in it for the airline. wrapped it in insulation.
I added 4 gallons of RO water to it and topped it off with the nutrient water from my res. then a few drops of rapid start root enhancer. ( put the leftover 1.2ec res water on my pepper plants outside). After I added the nute water to my 4 gallons of RO water, it brought the ec down to .7 or 350 ppm at .5 conversion. my ph went up to 7.2 after that so I added a couple cap fulls of ph down and got it to 5.8.

Its been about 3 hours and I can already tell the plant is doing much better. stretching for the light. I lowered the light down also.

hopefully after a week or so I can top it so I can get some clone sites going on. I will probably main stream this plant for a couple few months until I can get several clones off her and shes big enough to go under a 1000w hps.

well heres hows shes looking.

ill get my co2 going in a week or so as well.

well thanks for taking the time to read. any comments or question, feel free. take easy and happy growing. peace.

welp, my ph went from 5.6 to 6.3 in 1 day. I phed it down today but accident went to far to 4.9. should I add ph up or just see if itll drift up on its on with a few hours? I read somewhere that's its bad to add ph up and down in the same res. so I really don't want to add ph up.

other than that, my pants looking good. lots a root growth in the last 24 hours. the only thing is one of the blades of a leaf got a little brown spot. im assuming it might be the light is to low?

well, just checked the ph and its at 5.2 so it is going up. I read that if the ph goes up and ec stays the same, then I need more nutes.

If the EC stays the same then your plants aren't eating so you wouldn't add anymore nutes. I wouldn't add any pH up. What I would do is empty some liquid out of your rez and replace with water until your pH is in line. If you lost too much nutrients from taking out some liquid, add some nutes back to the rez. 350 PPM (.5) sounds about right for your plants from seed. 5.8-6.2 pH is where I keep them.

hey Snype ive read all your threads on your RDWC setup. big fan. That's kinda what im going to do with mine. I just need to buy a water chiller

What if the plant is drinking the same amount of water to nutes. so even though the ec stays the same, the water level has dropped bc your plants consumed water/nutes. Understand what im saying?

But even then, my res is 10 gallon for such a small plant, so I wouldn't assume the ec would drop much considering how small the plant is. my ph is still rising though so I thought I would ask from the moe experienced growers.

I appreciate the advice on how to ph my water. that's what I was going to do but when I check the ph, it had gone up to 5.3 from 4.9 in 4 hours....so I just left it. well heres the latest pics.

Can anyone tell me what that damage on the leaf looks like? I was thinking light was to close so I raised it a few inches.

wondering when i should top

wondering when i should top

well the ph is stable at 5.9 still. ppm is stable at 400. roots are growing like crazyyy (forgot to take a picture).

Only thing I can say is the water temp says 85 degrees but I don't think that's right. if it is, the plants seem to be doing fine.

Well here she is.

Are those leafs inbetween the nodes normal? and how come I haven't gotten a 5 fingered leaf yet? I got a 400w mh about 18in above that sucker

Glad that you read my threads. I hope to update some of them in the near future. Personally I don't need chillers but if it helps your situation then that's great.

Sorry about that, I kind of assumed that you were topping off the rez with water and then taking a reading. I like to take 2 readings. One before top off and one after top off to get a more accurate data of what's going on. For example, what if your plants are so small that they barely take any of the water? Then after you top off, your reading might be very similar to before the top off reading. Or also what if your plants are taking lots of water and the reading after top off is hundreds of PPM below the pre top off reading. I'm personally looking for my pre-top off data to be exactly the same as the day before (after top off). After I add my top off water back to the controller, I want to see the PPM's go down a lot but the pre-top off should be the same as the after top off and nute add back 24 hours before.

But even then, my res is 10 gallon for such a small plant, so I wouldn't assume the ec would drop much considering how small the plant is. my ph is still rising though so I thought I would ask from the moe experienced growers.
Exactly what I was explaining above. Good that you are seeing this yourself as far as the amount of solution. As far as pH rising, this could be from many factors other than your EC levels.

Personally I start seedlings with CFL's because I don't like giving them too much light at first. It's possible that your damaged leaf is from the light being too close to them too early. I'd keep the light pretty high at first and work my way down over time.

The newest growth in your pictures looks pretty nice! I'd try to keep those water temps in the 70's or you may start to run into problems in the future unless you have adequate air and running a dead rez. Glad that your roots are exploding.
