ok.. so im wondering.. for the dudes like g.wolf.. that have hit big numbers yield wise ? are you trimming the buds dedicated for nug runs.. any different then if you were to trim for getting rid of nugs.?

I have friends who told me.. DO NOT TRIM nug runs.. like your going to smoke it.. keep on as much crystal as possible.. so you don't HAVE A TRIM RUN off your nug run... this is supposedly.. how these dudes are hitting high numbers on there Yield %..

because.., im really into making my buds look great.. and not leaving tons of leaves on even if they do have trichs on them. I try to remove as much leaf as possible leaving most of the trich shit on.. but taking enough off that the TRIM can be RAN for BHO..

whats everyones thoughts on this.. ? thanks :tiphat:

I just cut down a 300 plant, 24 1000watt bulb room and didnt trim a single bud.

We removed the buds from the stalks, screen dried it in the cold/dark for a week and into the freezer it goes in vac sealed bags.
If youre going to blast it, why waste the money on trimming? All that sugar leaf is holding resin.

I am now running untouched plant product leaf and all. The last one I did like that I cut and froze with in an hour just to test it. I think my yields will be higher if I let dry for a couple days first.

How I treat the material depends on what I want to end up with.

Except for bragging rights material, we pull the fan leaves and extract the rest of the plant together.

That is also what we mostly make for personal vaporization, but I have to say that the keen thing about having met a lot of accomplished extractors as both students and new associates, is that they regularly leave samples, many of which are delightful.

They also range from prime bud to trim extractions, and from bell clear shatter, to waxes, to oils, with some are better than others, but none have lasted long, because it is all at least good and visitors both bring and freely share the spoils.

That both gives a better cross section of opinions, and adds to the mystique of the extractor, whose name we banter about fondly while sampling.

Back to the original question, for male member comparing contests, I personally extract small quantities of carefully selected prime material, because I believe a fair fight shows poor planning.

The monoterpenes are more concentrated in the buds, and the leaves have more plant waxes as a percent of yield.

In those cases, in time proven wolfish strategy, I stack the deck.

For our High Times photo shoot, a client hand selected a young carefully manicured Skywalker and a young Green Crack, which we extracted at around -50C, to produce bell clear and aromatic shatters.

They also had good aroma, flavor, and effect, but not so much more special as to change the way we vote with our feet.

By how we vote with our feet, I mean our actual actions, regardless of what comes our of our mouth, and those actions are that when we make concentrates for ourselves we do whole plant, sans fan leaves and lumber.

Hee, hee, hee, yeah, I always look forward to Coltranes latest!

He and his partner are always striving for refinement and have shared some stellar shatters.
