How do you break up fresh buds for bubble hash?

How the hell do people grind up large amounts of fresh or fresh frozen buds for bubble hash? Tried using a coffee grinder but burned the motor out within 10 minutes. If i do it by hand it takes forever and never really gets fine enough

If the grinder method works for you, upscale to a Cuisineart
food processor.

It needs to be broken up, but kind of coarse, doesn't need
to be like dried Italian seasoning you shake out a can.

What's your hash yield like anyway with just buds?

not sure about exact weight but it seems the return percent with buds/budlets is less than really good trim but the taste is alot better. I been mainly breaking it up by hand to roughly fingernail sizeds budlets but now i'm probably going to invest in a food processor. Or should i just dry it before making bubble? I been only making fresh frozen bubble and the yields been pretty dissapointing compared to bho

you can find used food processors all the time at garage sales and goodwill type stores. people buy them but don't use them so you can get them cheap that way. CL is worth a shot too. that would work really well but you could try small amounts in a blender too. I've never done that though. wish I could grind up that much buds....lol

The buds I used for the funnel bubble were almost
three years in the jar, kept it as one of my first harvest,
for sentimental reasons.

I mixed that with some buds from a more recent harvest
to get my thunk hash. Yeah, the taste was very smooth,
some terpene loss from the time spent in the jar.

Tasted like hash. Really good hash, lol.

I have no first hand knowledge working fresh buds for bubble,
most folks swear by fresh frozen trim, bubbled, dried and
then cured for some time.

I'll look around and come back with some qualified info.

Well i just did my first fresh flower bubble run.

I chopped down a small plant, just a few ounces dried probably.

I stripped off fan leaves. I used snips to cut down the flowers to nug size, then I used a nice wooden cutting board and a chefs knife and went to work. If you have knife skills its pretty fast and easy work. I had about a paper grocery bag full and it took about ten minutes to chop it all up.

The quality of the bubble hash is awesome.

That being said, it isnt any 'awesomer' then when i make my bubble with dry trim. In fact I agree with the post above that trim makes better bubble then flowers. The flowers are dense and I saw tons of trichs stuck, not going anywhere.

Im sticking to making bubble with dry trim.

I DID END Up making butter with the fresh flowers after i made bubble with them. Two extracts ftw!

Knife skills! Of coarse.

I tossed my buds after the extraction, dammit, I knew I should
have made some budder!

You are very resourceful, a true chef, waste nothing! lol.

haha yea my old french boss would have been proud.

Not sure where i learned that trick but someone years ago told me to make butter with the leftover bubble run.

Couple more weeks till more trim is ready, but im going for three extractions. Dry sift using DSW technique, then bubble it, then cook it. BOOM

Why would you bubble the dsw Dr sift tech?

How many runs have you done on the material? I would think running them in the food processor would damage a lot of fresh glands. I would wager running them 4-5 runs through the bags would give a better return, skip the food processor bit, freeze the buds first and use them after 5 runs for butter.

To a fellow Stanley hash maker, what you should do is freeze the buds, making them brittle. Then, you just crush the buds by hand as you are filling your bucket. They will shatter easily. Work quick to prevent losing resin to your hands. Grinders make too much plant material, preventing next level results. You can squeeze the bag of frozen buds, instead of individual flowers.:tiphat:

How about putting them in a blanket of parchment paper and use a rolling pin to crush the frozen buds ....... or very gently use a soft mallet to break apart the buds ?

I do that with my second sieving of dry sift. Cover the frozen buds with butcher paper on top of my screen. Then softly drum the beat of yankee doodle dandy. Have tried other tunes but none work quite as well.:tiphat:
