I have heard it is dangerous for smokers in Thailand. I suspect westerners are obvious targets. What are your thoughts on that. PS I hate to be the buzz killer.

G`day Hulligun

Life , is dangerous in Thailand .
Easier to collect a donation on the road side . Than go to the trouble of raising a warrant and actually prosecuting the Westerner in the courts where the cop sees none of the money .

Google : Kleptocracy .

Very different system to the West .

Hello Andyo, thanks for dropping in and the thought-provoking comment. No plans to extract oil this grow, but I'll continue working with these strains, so maybe next time! Need to do some research about oils, I know you have some great ideas.

Oh don't worry huligun, as Elmer points out, Thailand is one of the safest places around. Number one rule is to respect the locals, their traditions, culture and laws. Second, money under the table will get you out of just about any situation. I'm just waiting for the day when they relax the laws and allow people to grow freely. Even if it's only a few plants for personal use, I'll grow herb trees like the legendary Bushweed :bigeye:

Money is the root of all Evil

QUESTION for the petrol-heads: For flowering I used 2 x 65 Watt CFLs “Warmwhite” and a Metal Halide HID lamp. How many K was the MH?

Hint: 400 Watts

Truth be told, the gnats come back with massive reinforcements and took over the grow. It was horrible to see clouds of the pesky blighters swarm around the plants. It’s a relief to finally chop them down and have a decent look.

The DP turned out OKish, colas and buds look smokeable. They smell pleasant – like the outer rind of freshly cut watermelon. I’ll cure a handful of the buds for a while to see how they perform. I’m hoping to preserve that famous anise/licorice taste.

Next up, the Swazi. A few colas and buds a bit bigger then last year, all smokeable. I adore this strain for the great smell it gives off throughout the grow – it’s a real pleasure.

I’ll clean up the grow room and continue with the Thai plants at 11/13 to see how they develop.

Since I ended up growing indoors, I’m satisfied with the size of the plants, most of them around 1m high (last year they were around 2m plus). The main factor in keeping the size manageable was that I flowered them a few weeks earlier then previously.

I had 12 plants that made it all the way to the finish, so the total yield is encouraging me to plan the next show.

Thanks to all the dagga growers in South Africa and the lovely ladies for their contribution!

Viva sativa viva.

ANSWER: “Daylight” (GE Kolorarc). Shocking! Will replace this with 4K at some stage (as recommended by Andyo so long ago)

nice report!

I can really recommend a 4000K metal halide lamp for stativa growing. So far this kind of lamp comes the closest to natural sunlight, I am using one too. (Phillips Master HPI T plus 400W)

Thanks for the recommendation and glad you enjoyed the ride Hmong.

I’ve switched on the smoking sign so please return to your seat, unfasten your seat-belt and put the seat back into the relaxed position. There is martial law in Thailand but do not worry, we continue to fight back with Thai sticks.

After months of yellow/red shirts/shits, it’s good to see camouflage back on the streets. While I was growing weed, the weeds did very well too. Gulp.

Well there are no seeds in the buds which means it’s my first organic, indoor SINSIMILLA grow. Hooray

congratulations bro

maybe you find some pics of that harvest ;)

The monsoon season has started and the garden is lush and green. The mulberries are ripening, juicy black balls of deliciousness.

11 / 13 is the way to go and the Thai ladies responded well to the reduced daylight, the tiny buds all along the branches bursting with lovely white pistils. However, about a week later I noticed evidence of pest damage and decided to cut all the plants down. They had been flowering for around 14 weeks and needed at least 3 more weeks, but I did get a good idea of the plant’s shape and the bud size and development. At last I feel like the brickweed has revealed herself to me.

The plants were easy to hand-trim and the fan leaves break off easily. Despite the tiny size of the buds, my fingers soon got very gummy. This is by far the most resinous strain I’ve grown and I’m very excited to think how she’ll look if allowed to fully mature.

This is what the buds looked like before I cut them down.

Meanwhile, the coup curfew has been lifted and big changes are in the air. Be sure to visit Bangkok-based journalist Tony Cartalucci’s blog at http://landdestroyer.blogspot.com/search/label/Thailand for updates.

Around these parts, everything seems normal and life carries on. Early June is the period when many Thai males enter the temple to become short-term monks. The day the young men enter the temple, they shave their heads, wear white clothes and then family and friends parade with them in the streets and to the temple. They are accompanied by a small troupe blasting out funky music and everyone dances with wild abandon under the baking sun. It is an uplifting and unique ritual that reveals a side of Thai culture that tourists do not usually get to see.

Special mention for the ladies who choose to stay at a favorite temple for a short time in prayer and reflection, and for those ladies who shave their heads and enter the temple as full-fledged nuns.

Hi Shok,
How's it going mate? I thought I would take you up on your offer. Better later than never. Great things start with small steps, sometimes those steps are slow also.

Hi Cernunos, thanks for visiting and that lovely foto from the deep South, a beautiful environment. I've heard stories about the potent weed they grow down there. Thailand has such vast potential to grow cannabis, just thinking about it makes my head spin! Sorry to read about the arrest of your Thai buddy, keep us informed if you have more news. How are the wife and baby doing? What are your plans for the future?

Sawatdee paper thorn, glad to hear you love the Thai strains.

Hi again Shok mate.
The south sure is beautiful, stories of potent weed sounds great to my ears. Your right too, the vast potential here is incredible for growing kancha.

My plans for the future? Well the immediate future will be a bit of travel around the country side here. I'm thinking of heading south or north within the coming week but I will venture south regardless. As for longer term plans I am keen to talk with you about that. I'm not far from fifty posts so we could chat pretty soon. I could stop into your neck of the woods when we're going through yonder would be another option.

The wifey and bambino are both doing well. It's amazing how quick children grow and learn. Well mate, I gotta cruise.

Take care my friend

Sawadee krap! :tiphat:

Your diary reminds me that my last visit to Thailand was way to long ago. And my last grown thai strain too... The garden pics and cultural bits are really nice, besides of the tasty looking buds.

Grow on!

Sawatdee Krup DerGaertner, welcome to the forum. Thanks for dropping in and your encouragement, much appreciated. I hope you get to grow some Thai strains again, it is such a fantastic smoke.

Hello Shok,
I wont head past where you are without meeting up with your good self mate, that's for sure. Our departure is slightly delayed but I reckon by early next week we'll cruise into your province. My daughter will be travelling with me.

I haven't been where you are for a number of years it will be sort of like visiting an old friend. Well, I have a date with my wife tonight, maybe we will have Thai bbq. Is there any good Thai bbq places there?

Well amigo, enjoy your evening there. I remember there is an ocean breeze that comes in there, it would be very pleasant with some fine food and herb to sit and partake of it all in the evening.

Ok, I've been told we are going out now.

Take it easy mate, I will talk with you really soon.

Cern
