Quick Harvesting Question...

Hi all

I'm rapidly approaching my first harvest, but I'm not sure about the timings.

My pistils are almost 90% amber in the top buds, but the trichomes are still mostly clear across the 2 plants.....I think I've spotted 1 amber tichome.

Should I let it go a little longer, ignoring the pistil colours and focus on getting milky to amber tichomes, or should I harvest now.

My buds are going more amber near the top of the plant, so was thiking of doing a staggered harvest working my way down so to let the lower buds mature a little more with stronger light access.

Let it go longer.... I find some strains start the harvest window around that 95 percent hairs receding... very little white hair left.... but yours doesnt sound that way.... all clear.... not yet bud....

Personally and everyone is different... I wait till mostly cloudy... not amber.... after dry cure a lot of cloudys will end up amber... fyi

Be sure to read simon's thread, "A perfect cure every time"- at least the first page & the last couple of pages.

Works great.

Another thing to consider is what the seedmaker offers as flowering time. If they say 60 days, that's pretty much the minimum to use, in general, anyway. If anything, they tend to claim shorter flowering time than optimal.

I like to wait until cloudy trichomes predominate with some amber- not many, nor many that are still clear. At that point, there are very few white pistils, either.

Or so it seems with what I've done so far.

Another idea is to harvest and hang your buds lineally, so you may have amber trics buds at one end and clear trics at the other ...keep them apart so you may 'test' once cured ..lol

That's pretty much what my gut was telling me, but I wanted to confirm it.....thanks everyone for your replies

Start harvesting buds with half clear and half cloudy trichomes, then do a slow harvest through the others, taking them progressively later, and test the samples after curing to determine which you prefer the most ;)

My need is medical pain relief rather than anything else.....I'm on prescription opiods, but am developing tolerance so am trying this to offset a reduction in the morphine so my tolerance reduces..... I've tried taking more morphine but I just end up throwing up all day

Harvest Window..

Harvest Window..

Here are some charts that will help you decide when to pick, but really it all comes down to a personal preference. For others, lack of will power and restraint. It takes real patience to get that top notch bud. Buying a 20x or more jewelers loupe or high powered handheld microscope is also a worthy investment. I believe the most important if you want that A-1 buddage, unless you wanna guess when your plant is ready..

Hope these help you on your journey. Good luck!

You say the "pistils are amber", do you mean the stigma (aka "hairs")? Or do you mean the trichomes?

Swiping a few trichome macros, add some bro-science and putting it together in photoshop is easy.

The clear=energetic / cloudy=couchlock is misinformation. Chose a strain with the type of high you desire and grow it to maturity.

Harvesting early doesn't allow the plant to reach potential. There is real science out there.
