Best Strains to Use if you want to make Seeds with CBD-Rich Females

I figure one answer to this question is, Whatever You Like.

Shark Shock is a typical feminized CBD strain.

I like Romberry and Apollo, and I have regular seeds of each.

So a Shark Shock CBD x Romberry seems like a good cross to me.

The second answer is the one I'm working on.

The breeding exercise that uses CBD rich males to start with.

So far I've found 2 CBD rich Regular seeds -
CBD Crew Sweet & Sour Widow
Resin Cannatonic

Anyway, I would love :woohoo: to expand this list :peacock:

Who else has CBD rich Regular Seeds ?

What is your goal?

Did you just want to get more CBD plants to work with?

Bodhi, and Chimera have a few Reg CBD lines out right now. It would be worth a look into those.

Yes I'd say Zbodhi would be a good breeder to look at, he has done an amazing job getting regular beans out to the community, initially they were freebie packs.

He has a few at different vendors, and is always working on something new.

I think his Herliquin BX should bring you some males to work with.

Good luck on your hunt, you already have a few gems.

Found another Regular seed, TGA 'Pennywise' -

"After years of research and testing we have finally developed a hybrid with very high CBD. In over 70% of tested samples the CBD was in the range of 12-15% CBD and equal parts of THC as well. "

12-15% CBD ?!

Not sure about that.

Depends if you breed with pure CBD plants or with THC/CBD chemotypes.
Breeding with the former using also a CBD male will be the easiest way as the offspring will also be of the pure CBD chemotype. Using a different chemotype as male or female will result in a variety of different ones in the offspring (even pure THC plants). Unless you have some test for CBD and THC...

If you want to make CBD seeds there are two routes I recommend. First you could just inbreed a strain that already has CBD, such as that Sweet and Sour Widow mentioned. The problem with this is the parents would have widely varying cannabinoid content, resulting in a widely varying seed cannabinoid content. This might work for you, but CBD content will be quite unpredictable in your seeds.

The second way to go about it would be to find a pure CBD female (little, or no THC) and breed a pure THC male to it. When you cross a pure CBD plant with a pure THC plant, the resulting seeds should be roughly 25% THC dominant, 25% CBD dominant, and 50% codominant(both CBD and THC). This route would create much more predictable seeds. You could also use feminized CBD seeds, and regular THC seeds, opening your options for starting strains. Anyway good luck with your project.

Not quite... The F1 will all be 50:50 THC/CBD, only the F2 will segregate into your proposed chemotype distribution.

Why the cannabinoid content should show high deviations in a selfed CBD plant but not in a cross between a CBD and a THC chemotype, I can not comprehend. Cannabinoid content is not coupled to the cannabinoid expressed; as with everything, there are simply some varieties with more and some with less variability.

I mean cannabinoid makeup(chemotype), not content, sorry. I am no scientist! HA

As for the variation I mentioned, it is because when using males from CBD rich strains -without- lab tests we can't tell the cannabinoid makeup(obviously if a lab is available things change!). If breeding with these males, then cannabinoid makeup would be varied in unpredictable ways. I am talking about the CBD rich commercially available(1:1), not a pure CBD strain(most don't have access!)

A pure CBD female is a little easier to find -without- lab tests. Start with any CBD rich strain available, and search for the plant with absolutely no buzz. I mean like 3 grams joint, no buzz. Thats the pure CBD plant. Breed it to any regular(pure THC) drug strain. There is your CBD/THC equal strain. If you are after the pure CBD strain then just self your no high individual. The S1s would be pure CBD seeds.

OO, you seem to be absolutely correct, I just read a study, and the F-1s will definitely be all intermediates. The F-2 generation is what I would have to use for my plan to find no high females(CBD pure).

Sorry to the OP for making this more complicated than it has to be! SeedsOfFreedom has much to learn yet!

Where did the ICmag thread on CBD/THC codominance go?

Thanks for all the replies & info !

I would grow out the 4 varieties of CBD-rich strains I have.

Probably try a non-CBD male and, when I get one, a CBD rich male, like the Sweet Sour Widow.

After much testing :woohoo: pick the ones I like the most.

Then a combination of curiosity and maybe a special deal from SC Labs may inspire me to send in a budlet for testing.

Wish you good luck and especially a lot of fun!
Did you ever thought about TLC? Not saying it does much good concerning concentrations but it's a fast and easy way to determine the chemotype.

The only breeder i'd trust on the CBD content is the vars from the CBD crew, there the only breeders to actually test there CBD content, every other seed co seem to lie about it and use it as a marketing scam to sell more seeds. So start with 1 of there 1 to 1 vars and go from there.

Are you after the 1:1 THC to CBD in your seeds? Or do you want pure CBD seeds?
