hey fellows,
i like very much to do extractions. it's a relatively new world to me, i am trying to get better.
Besides some drysift attempts (getting better.. eheh) i'm trying to work mostly with 2 kind of extraction: QWET (oil - with ethilic alcohol 95%) and ICE (using just a 2 SecretSmoke bags set - 190 and 45 microns).
everything is very hobby-like and always small batches. thanks to ICMag and expecially my friend RulaTone (great hash maker), i am getting better and i like the end product more and more.

This is the best ice i ever did, so tasty! comes from ca. 10 grams of great trim from grapefruit x blueberry (chimera) and moondog (ziel-zielona), among the sweetest tastiest herb i did recently: the gfxbb (blueberry) aroma is the main one, combined with moondog's rose, i'm really happy!
i avoided my main mistakes of past extractions: i used a lot of ice, mixed for about 20-25 mins at minimum speed and didn't touch the extract, but i just let the most water flow out of it, collect it with a spon and then regularly break it as it was drying. the end result was really something... incredible taste and high potency! :-D

QWET or OIL

i use ethilic alcohol 95% (food grade), 1 lt jars, metal strainer, coffee filters, strings to hold the filters, a big transparent pyrex dish (white is better, gonna get one!), a big pot, a small ceramic cup and a small pot. everything in the freezer!

some newer ones... a new thing i am doing is: after collecting from the pyrex dish, I place the extract in a small cup and heat it again with a small pot with water. then i break the bubbles that are forming with a needle. i am trying to let the most alcohol evaporate... any thought on this?

yesterday i did another 2-runs, the first one with 30 sec extraction the second with 2 mins 30 secs. the only different thing i did was filtering from one jar to another with the filter facing inside, the filtering took place inside the freezer. maybe a little cleaner... but i did take some nice pics... ;-) really ALIEN! :-D

the honey bee you mean with butane? i never tried to make BHO, i will start soon i think the extraction should be more effective (butane boils at 30°C i think - etOH at about 70°C), we just have to be more carefull (and i need some gear... eheh)

i haven't quite understood your question... what you wanna know about alcohol?

Ciao libeccio i complimenti con te sono sprecati dato che vedo che hai un bel po' di esperienza con le estrazioni, cosa mi consigli di fare con il mio trim molto resinoso della seconda pianta? alcol o ice? Ho provato a fare l'olio due volte ma ho avuto problemi a raschiarlo entrambe le volte per colpa mia, la prima perchè ho usato un phon anche se non vicinissimo e si è cristallizzato tutto sul fondo vitreo e non andava via con la lametta! La seconda volta ho provato a fare evaporare il tutto su carta forno, ma ho ottenuto la carta forno per lo più sporca senza aver modo di raschiare il contenuto, e un prodotto simile ad un estrazione con ghiaccio! La prossima volta qualora decidessi di fare l'olio (cosa molto probabile) farò evaporare in maniera naturale su vetro al massimo con un ventilatore! Curioso di sapere i tuoi consigli! Peace!

ciao zippo, avevo visto la tua carta forno zuppa d'olio... non credo sia stata una buona idea se vuoi fare l'olio segui il procedimento classico, va benissimo l'evaporazione naturale, ma ti consiglio se puoi un'ultima botticina a bagno maria leggero per facilitare tutta l'evaporazione dell'alcool... comunque se preferisci consumare l'estratto in un joint, allora credo che l'ice sia la scelta migliore... come aromi preferisco senza dubbio questa estrazione. l'olio se fatto bene avrebbe bisogno di essere consumato in un bong o al limite spalmato sulla cartina di una canna d'erba... secondo me non è il massimo impastato nel modo classico... valuta anche questo. se hai un bel po' di trim perchè non provare entrambe? ma per l'ice ti servirebbero almeno le bags se non le hai già...

Grazie mille libeccio! Si sicuramente entrambi gli "esperimenti" sono stati un fallimento! Vorrei utilizzare il metodo con alcol semplicemente per non comprare nulla! So che si può fare l'ice senza bags ed anche estrazione a secco! Per la prima mi reputo troppo impaziente per il processo finale di assorbire l'acqua in eccesso, il secondo ovvero la battitura a secco preferirei farla con fiori che con trim! Questo che ho per le mani adesso è il secondo trim, il migliore fino ad adesso, ne rimangono altri 3! Con questo farò l'olio seguendo i tuoi accorgimenti, per i prossimi vedremo se mi prendo di coraggio e faccio l'ice Grazie! Peace!
