21X-PRO "Set it 'n Forget it" Grow!

Day 68 from Seed (Mar 10, 2012)

Day 68 from Seed (Mar 10, 2012)

It's day 68 and the plant is still throwing out new pistils. It has received nothing but water for over a week and a half now in an effort to "flush" it and have her finish. Many of the leaves yellowed and began to die, so we plucked them off. The first photo is before the plucking and the second is after. It should only be a few more days now before the plant is ready to harvest.

Day 72 HARVEST (Mar 14, 2012)

Day 72 HARVEST (Mar 14, 2012)

After running on just water for about 2 weeks, Sour 60 is finally ready to be chopped. Today we cut the plant and hung it up to dry. In a few days we will know the weight.

Dry Weight - 22.64 Grams

Dry Weight - 22.64 Grams

All in all the final dry weight was 22.64 grams of primo bud under a 28W light with the absolute minimal effort. Our goal of finding out what the absolute lowest you could yield with our lights was complete. 0.81 Grams per watt is the lowest number you can achieve with the lowest wattage light, with a "set it and forget it" growing mentality. Truly amazing.

Some things that could have been done to improve the yield: monitor the plant regularly, feed it nutes based on recommendations from the manufacturer, use CO2 enrichment, control ambient temp, control humidity, control pH, TDS, EC, etc..., put mylar on the wall or the plant in a grow tent, use LST or SCROG, used an aero bucket, oxygenated water, temp-controlled water, RO water, etc... Essentially we could have done just about anything to improve the yield of this little plant, but that was not the point of this grow.

In the end a system that cost only $276.45 retail, produced almost 23 grams of bud with minimal effort. If the street price is $10 a gram, that's $230 worth of high grade that wasn't bought from a dealer in just over 2 months. Long story short, the ROI for this system is just over 1 harvest if you set it and forget it. And you get a higher quality finished product than most dealers can offer, plus the satisfaction and joy of growing it yourself. :huggg:

I'm not sure where your from but that's not exactly Primo around here. Its leaffy and not very dense. It looks like its decent but not top quality. Lets see some nuggets.

It was grown using only 28W of light without any environmental modifications and very limited nutes. This was called a "set it 'n forget it" grow because I literally didn't do a thing but add some water every now and then or raise the light.

This is grow represents the "bare minimum" one should expect as it was our smallest light and a zero effort grow.

This is awesome and I like the idea. It needs full spectrum LEDs now though, possibly the easiest upgrade in the world.

Should hold up for less stretch, less power consumption and/or up the yield some , +20% without a question and denser nugs.

That's rather impressive for a neglected grow and 28w worth of light. Congrats! :D Thanks for posting this up, I really appreciate it. :D

It's been rather interesting watching LED move past HID lighting, and I'm looking forward to seeing what shows up 5 years from now. :)
