Not that I can tell, they are just a reseller of recovery pumps. The manufacturer page for the caresaver still lists the same old model with a hermetic / oil-seperated design.

Apparently. I spoke briefly with a tech at NAAS, and he said they located a supplier for oil less compressors. He insisted I send him an email so he could get me more info.

I'm waiting for a reply. I'll post when I hear back from them.

A part name would be helpful or a review.

Apparently. I spoke briefly with a tech at NAAS, and he said they located a supplier for oil less compressors. He insisted I send him an email so he could get me more info.

I'm waiting for a reply. I'll post when I hear back from them.

Their reply:

"We have stopped selling the caresaver because of licensing issues in the states

We will be launching a new product the month a 110V 60hz model recovery rate at 36kg/h

Ironfist extractors claim to have a new pump to save the day. They said that they've made the bulk order and will have them by November, and will cost "a little over 2k"

This should be interesting.

Anyone looked at kimray electric glycol pumps?

These are diaphragm pumps, and they're available with SS and viton parts.

The spec sheet says nothing about vacuum, but im sure they'd likely pull a pretty decent amount without failure, sine they're rated to 2500psi.

We also use their suction controllers to regulate inlet pressure on nat gas compressors at my day job. They make them small enough, with SS and viton internals, and non vented for our application, BUT some of the packings are bathed in oil, and exposed to the gas stream through sensing lines. Also, the bodies are steel.

Looks like they will pull about three feet of head on liquid, which is about 1.3 psi, or .088 atmospheres, or about 2.6" Hg.

Not as much as we would like, and we are pumping a vapor, which it doesn't address, but a clever concept having hydraulics on both side of the membrane, so there is little stretch from compression, such as when one side is a gas.

Trying to cover all bases, besides our search for the perfect small oil less, we are gathering parts for a hemispherically sealed oil bath recovery pump experiment, where we use a more salubrious pump oil, add secondary oil separators/demisters, and scrub the exhaust using a packed bead gas filter from VICI Metronics, whom we have been working with in a joint R&D program.

We will have a third party forensic lab test the n-Butane straight out of the tank, after vacuum distilling using an oil less, and after vacuum distilling using the test pump and scrubbing assembly.

So far our experiments with VICI, has show good success scrubbing n-Butane, but less success scrubbing the stream containing the oil mixture, without sacrificing some of the cannabinoids.

In the case of scrubbing the pump exhaust, there is a tremendous difference in the butane molecule size and that of pump oil, so VICI's engineering guru predicts easy success. The pump is on the way, the two brand new 50# tanks for the samples have already arrived and hope continues to spring eternal in this engineers heart.

Also looking at diaphragm pump alternatives, coupled with liquid nitrogen or dry ice heat exchangers, to eliminate the final pump by reducing tank pressure to within their capabilities.

we are looking at a number of viable options and will be making sure they work before naming them off, the last time we spilled the beans too early someody ruined the party and cost me $2000 and 4 other people to have to send back their pumps so when we know yall'll know boss man

Throttling the pumps, when im doing the initla flushes i close off the stainless recovery valve leading to the pump so i dont get tiny splash drops in the pump and barely have it fluttered open while the liquid line is filling the system. tiny atomized droplets will get sucked into the pump if theres a large splash or a large pressure difference causing a burp where the downtube goes into the collection spool.

I am more or less talking about precautionary techniques to avoid aspirating oil laden butane into the recovery port of the collection tank. But throttling the intake every time anything is entering the collection, whether it be from the vent or the dump.

Not only that but also the valves as well. Even the 'liquid line in' valve(s) when the psi rises to help cut down messy clean ups.

Thank you! I had noticed oil in my vapor line, as well as on my recovery pump, which had me extremely worried. Hasn't effected pump functions, but I have less than 10 runs thus far, and it may have only once, perhaps even just a little burp of oil.

Nonetheless, I'm going to experiment tomorrow with how much I can throttle recovery.
 
Could you just use vacuum pumps that would let you just use your recovery pot as a cold trap? this way you could completely avoid the butane going through the pump?

so should I add the TR21 or just wait for "the pump", Ive had no issues with my G5 but wouldn't mind speeding things up?

A TR-21 will require a good after cooler, which would also speed up the G-5 some. I would add that first.

Currently we have out 100lb tank in a freezer. using a TR21 only manages to heat the tank up about 10 degrees, which still leaves it sitting at -10C

Do you think an MT69 would be of benefit?

Do you think an MT69 would be of benefit?

A MT-69's 1/4" tubing is too small and plugs at low temperatures. I would pick up a 50' coil of 3/8" stainless tubing from a brewery supply and keep that in a liquid bath at low temperature.

They hold a lot of volume, so add a valve at both ends, to make maintenance easier.

Both were on my list but that just got moved to the top thanks for the advice

Basically just vacuum distilling the butane and and condensing it in your refrigerant tank before it enters the pump. Or would that still be slow?
