There saying people will be able to have 15 grams on them as long as they have a medical certificate so sounds promising.

But will you still have to obtain that illegally or through a dispensary
Obviously that means you won't be able to grow your own unless you had a tiny plant then lol

Huge, huge news. The NSW Government has today approved changes to allow medicinal cannabis use, protecting people like my terminally ill son, Dan from prosecution – and this incredible win is thanks to you.

I got the call last night. I jumped on a plane to Sydney and will meet with Premier Baird later today. The changes will decriminalise possessing medicinal cannabis for those with a medical certificate of exemption – with moves underway to address supply by the end of the year.

It's an amazing win, with more progress to come.

And it wouldn't of happened without your help. More than 195,000 of you have signed the change.org petition my family started. It's been months of campaigning, and it put medicinal cannabis all over the media: in Daily Telegraph, Sunrise, ABC News, Alan Jones 2GB, Sydney Morning Herald, Sunday Night on 7, and so many others.

What's clearer than ever – this is a people-power win.

Help me spread the good news by sharing this image on Facebook and Twitter today.

These changes will reduce avoidable suffering. It'll mean caring for our son Dan in the only way that helps his nausea from chemotherapy won't make us criminals.

I hope to have more news to share with you soon, including media about the progress. It looks like I'll be on Sunrise and Alan Jones tomorrow so be sure to tune in to those!

Be in touch soon.

And as always – thank you so much for your support.

Lucy

Clinical trials. Sounds promising but we'll have to wait and see. At lest a step in the right direction.

Edit What I heard sounded cautious. Clinical trials and cops going to turn a blind eye to terminally ill posessing small amounts of cannabis.

P.S. These changes are only going to be in NSW, and while there's some progress in getting support for trials in Victoria, Tasmania and WA – that won't provide the protection and support being offered here. Here's a few petitions you can support now if you're in these other states:

Western Australia - https://www.change.org/p/premier-na...tter-for-medicinal-use-give-our-kids-a-chance

Tasmania - https://www.change.org/p/state-gove...tment-for-terminal-and-debilitating-illnesses

Norfolk Is. - https://www.change.org/p/tony-abbot...ve-stop-blocking-access-to-medicinal-cannabis

Looks like things are moving in a positive direction at last.

Saw an interview with Alan Jones today. What a dick. He said he is disappointed with the result but managed to stroke himself with being pivotal in the mmj breakthrough.

This is far from ideal but its a foot in the door,no doubt there is going to be big problems getting the supply side of things sorted ,if you sell to someone with a certificate to use it will you open to supply charges ? that sort of stuff! someone will have to produce it and supply it,most terminally people aint going to be down the pub looking to score! but the media seems to be on side and willing to give it coverage in a positive light ..Smurf a big thank you to every one that has been sticking their necks out and campaigning on all our behalf's, tears of joy M8 Rf

Looks like we will hear more about how Australia is going to handle medical cannabis on the 10th of August. Bit of a write up in the smh today saying it's looking promising. Cheers Kit

I have a hard time wth the fact that previously it was regarded as a dangerous drug , ive been charged with that ..
so now its not a dangerous drug ,,
but still it will be treated like it is and we are still being charged with possessing a dangerous drug ...

no danger ,, so why the problem getting it legalized , why cant everyone use it , why are they being so careful with these trials etc ..

i dont trust those fuckers as far as i could throw them ...

the only thing i could think of to perhaps give us a chance of legalized growing ,, ie grow your own , would be we encourage everyone , i mean everyone , to grow some ,, every man and his dog ,, supply seeds ,, get them all growing pot , maybe they cant stop us all and will finally lets us have what we want ...

i dont see them giving us what we want any other way ...

I think the pollies are just vote chasing.

The upside of it is they will just make it more acceptable to the general public.

Then once the US feds are finished with their social experiment it will get reclassified and we will have full on rec once the corporations get involved in the race for the canna dollar.

I'm with Donald Mallard :good: I don't trust those fuckers as far as I can spit them, so the next logical thing to do is get everybody growing marijuana :woohoo: I'd like to see them try to cope with that, the system would buckle under the pressure and fail miserably.
Politicians are only interested in big money lining their pockets and not the genuine interest and health of us the people with voted them in, fracking age of entitlement frackers are taking everything they can and kicking everyone in the nuts who gets in their way.

Once farmers get hold of it on a broad acre scale like wheat or corn no one will give cannabis a second glance.

CannaBuilding

I remember watching something on Tv about that above fella in the pic, I hope he doing good and feeling better, i remember they were saying his father used to be a drug enforcements officer taking down major cannabis operations in national parks etc, If my memory serves me right. He then started growing cannabis to help his ill son, what a champion, wonder what those bastard politicians would do if they were in the same position, would they then legalize cannabis? it seems like these politicians are heartless bastards, who only care about cash in their pockets.

Rather use Cannabis for my back pain, then all that pharmy shit they ask you to take, thats why i started growing again after a 2 year break, Frack those bastards, all they care about is their pockets, but care none the less about our health.

As long as everyone starts growing, and keeping it stealthy, atleast use carbon scrubbers etc, they only cost 100 - 200 dollars, then you will not be bothering your neighbours and everyone is happy.

Peace to all, and happy growing.

A parliamentary committee is backing a plan by a cross-section of senators to make medical cannabis available to Australians.

The Senate's legal and constitutional affairs committee recommended the Greens bill to set up a regulator of medical cannabis be passed.

The regulator would be "responsible for formulating rules for licensing the production, manufacture, supply, use, experimental use and import and export of medicinal cannabis".

The committee unanimously recommended the bill's passage, with amendments to ensure scientific evidence is accessed to determine suitably of treatments.

It also wants amendments to ensure medical cannabis products are made available in Australia in line with international obligations.

The private bill is co-sponsored by government senator Ian MacDonald, Labor senator Anne Urquhart and Liberal Democratic Party senator David Leyonhjelm.

Greens leader Richard Di Natale said Australians wanted medical cannabis reform and hopes the support from all sides of politics means parliament can work together to make it happen.

"This issue is not about politics, it's about getting medicine to people who need it," he said.
