so if I understand this hypothetical question, we'd be exchanging cannabis prohibition for prohibition of home-growing?

I think that personal growing needs to be part of any legalization scheme. It's what keeps the State & retail providers honest. It's also the only way to actually achieve Peace in the Marijuana War. People will grow their own, so there's no point in making that illegal when you can buy it OTC. The vast majority of people will just buy it, anyway, if the price is right.

I will keep growing. If the OTC was cheaper AND better quality (not likely) AND excellent variety, I might stop growing. But that will never happen, people are too greedy, look at how Washington's legalization is going.

No one should be able to tell us what and what not to grow in our backyard as long as we aren`t harming anyone doing so.
The planet belongs to the people, psychopath lawmakers belong on a fire. Who the f do they think they are...

Besides that, corporate pot will be as poisonous as the meat and vegetables most of us have to eat.

No way. I have a MMJ card and also could try Recreational if I want to. I grow for a hobby and when the hobby is done for the year, I have a product I can use and I know what went on it. I still go to the Dispensary to get variety and sample new products.

Would you give up you right to grow your own cannabis, in favor of full legalization?

Umm, wait a minute Shagg,,,If there was "full legalization", why would I have to give up my right to grow my own?

Either way,, NO...

If they made homegrown tomatoes illegal, I'd still be growing them...

Why do marijuana advocates write a legalization amendment and make home growing illegal? The last bag of pot I purchased was Highland Oaxacan Gold - beautiful 18 inch flower tops golden/ light green - fully seeded, $ 25 / ounce, but wait that was 1977. I'm not sure but I believe MMJ retail / recreational sales prices today are higher than in 1977. <vbg>

Marijuana has been legal in Colorado since 2000, and now some neighborhoods have four (a few) dispensaries in sight most of the time.

Dispensaries for marijuana came into existence, because people that had a license to use MMJ medicine - didn't have a license to buy MMJ medicine. The 2000 MMJ legalization amendment had a vague clause about dispensing marijuana to people with a license to use MMJ marijuana. In reality there was no means or method to dispense marijuana legally, but it was clear that Colorado's 2000 amendment anticipated everyone growing their own or having a friend or small clinic grow their marijuana. Colorado amendments anticipated home grown marijuana as the first approach which was used for the first 10 years or so. Somebody thought homegrown as the only legal way to dispense MMJ restricted the use of MMJ as prescribed. ( people who couldn't grow). Soon dispensaries grew on every corner and today - way more MMJ / recreational dispensaries than McDonald's / Starbucks.

I've had an organic vegetable garden most of my life. I can't imagine not growing my own. Any real reason why home grown marijuana should be illegal when smoking becomes legal? Is the government suggesting there are health safety issues with home grown? Many countries have made GMO corn / GMO products illegal and yet the USA will not allow GMO labeling. Kaui, Hawaii voted for GMO labeling and restricting GMO products and Monsato and friends overturned the will of the Kaui people - unreal how the will of the Kaui people becomes a violation of Monsanto's constitutional rights. Real legalization occurs when you can grow marijuana outside beside the corn and tomatoes.

You won't convince me in a thousand years, that Monsanto or state sponsored grow companies supply a better and safer product at a lower price than homegrown.

Yeah, I've seen places selling grams for 30+ bucks. Good lord is all I can say.

My buddy recently took a trip to one and ended up spending over 20 a gram. He doesn't grow or even smoke really but he wanted to go for it.

Ridiculous.

And to answer the OP - growing for life.

I will never stop growing. We did pick up some golden goat and 303 Kush at Mile High in Denver. This is my opinion but my weed is better flushed, grown organic, and not bone dry like the week at Mile High. My ganja also has more aroma and flavor because of the mason jar cure. I do not believe they cure their weed at this shop. Thus, I will continue to grow my own, but it does need to be legalized and stop putting people in jail for ganja.

If its truly, fully legalized. . Then we all would be able to grow..but hell no to giving up my god given right to supply my family with pesticide and chemical free anything... I believe that if its not in the constitution then its just an other law made up to make money for someone else some where..

Why would anybody in their right mind ever vote to have their freedoms stripped from them? They'd have to be purly ignorant or completely tyrannical.

Good ol Benjamin Franklin once said,
"Any man willing to give up liberty for security deserves neither."

In all reality & for the sake of mankind, in general, all anti drug laws should be striken from the law books so that freedom of choice for all can be restored.
Good luck with that!

would you rather... give your mom an orgasm, or give your dad an orgasm?

i say go big or go home. legalize it. it's a plant that grows out of the ground on it's own, it shouldn't be "illegal" in the first place. mandrake root is a hallucinogen. just learned that today, guess what i won't be put into assfucking prison for growing in my house? there are all kind's of plants out there that get you high, sleepy, comatose, buzzed, tripped out, whatever. but the only shit that's illegal is the shit used traditionally to reach higher state of mind. think about that one for a second. then continue fucking your local law enforcement officer.

never heard of any shamanic rites regarding alcohol and cigarettes...unless you count jesus and that whole wine thing.

I agree it should not be illegal....repeal that law....not make new fu*ked up laws!

HMM...some people would like to buy their cannabis from the people that have jailed so many of us for having it????

Strange line of thought but OK!!

Let us legalize at any cost....then realize people are still going to jail for pot.
Only now all the pot is crap and you gotta buy it from the cops.....Great idea!

Where can I sign up for such a fantastic program......it will be so much better!!
