im new to seed making

ive never delt with difficult to root plants before. ive literally had almost 100 percent success with any method ive used. now to go from that to 0 percent is quite frustrating

@BomBayCat have you been selecting for shorter/earlier flowering?

@thatonedude I would try to air layer, if everything else isn't working.

how late into flower can you begin to air layer? ive never done it on cannabis before. only woody plants outdoors. I assume that even if they are not rooted come harvest time I can just chop all but a few nodes above where I layered it and reveg from that

how much light are you giving the clones you're trying to root?

i find the best method is high humidity and low light intensity @ 18+ hours.

they are under a 13 watt cfl that is like 24 inches away. def not too much light. they are just taking to long to root which is letting mold set in

I did get one out of like 30 to root in the coir plugs but by then the tops were already beginning to develop mold and it didn't survive.

my one bagseed plant I have going rooted in three days in my bubble cloner but the seeds I actually paid for show no signs of rooting even after 3 weeks

I had to root thumb sized buds to save a favorite strain that didn't get cloned when it should have. I didn't want to rely on regenerating.
One got moldy within the first week and got trashed. Not a big surprise , I clone in cups with sandwich bag rubber banded on top, no holes in either.
Then I used a trick I learned from growing cactus from seed, spray with about a 1% hydrogen peroxide solution.
The three remaining clones all made it, two without ever showing mold
I have been spraying all clones with it since, never have mold issues anymore.

:woohoo: I crossed my blueberry reg with my critical+ fem, i cracked 2 seeds both turned out female and are 3 weeks into flowering, one smells just like blueberry :)

Did you buy fem seeds? A buddy of mine phased out all his old mother plants, most were 90's and early 2000's sensi stock. Ordered black water and sfv fems to replace them, the black water coated the room in pollen, the sfv would never root. I've never had a reg seed not root, had some take longer depending on the strain, occasionally one cut takes three weeks or so but they always make it. I've found that scraping the bottom half inch of the cut before clonex always speeds things up, hold a razor perpendicular to the stem and shave off a super thin layer. This got my strawberry to root in 5 days and she usually takes twenty

no they were regular seeds. unless there was somekind of mix up. im giving air layering a shot and im also trying a few in straight perlite. fingers crossed

finally one successful clone. its one of the hindu kushes. not the one I wanted but its still good. just lankier than I would have liked. stil waiting and hoping to get a good cut of the hash bomb as well. got a male cantaloupe haze dropping pollen soon. soon. wish I had that pollen right now to make some seeds but im afraid it will have to wait till next round.

I still have 3 hashbomb seeds, 3 hindu kush seeds, 3 Durban poison seeds, and a s1 blimburn seeds mango.

hopefully with all of this I can make a successful trip into never having to buy seeds again and still have a variety of smoke for the rest of my life

can I harvest the tops and pollinate the larf and still get seed? I know it will depend on the strain im sure but is it at least worth a shot?

Little tip from dj short.... the female dictates the type flavour aroma and the male dictates the amount of flavour aroma.

I've always operated under the assumption that everything dj said was gold, but in my last cross, more females got their terpene profile from their dad. The mom was headband, the male was kksc x sfv og x jacks cleaner. The two stinkiest keepers smelled like straight strawberry and sfv og, none got the garlic diesel smell of the mom. Just some food for thought

Yeah dj also liked to take the indica as male and sativa as female, while he said many contemporaries in those days were doing the opposite.

Thx for the info:tiphat:

Um running my first f1 cross and find the odour is kinda like the female but seems to also bring influence from the male.... although my male being an og cross slh x kryptonite og... I read og tend to dominate crosses... so might explain your og domination as well with a male....

Yeah but the kksc coming through in a female is nuts, the male we used was either jacks dom or sfv dom, all lemons, and boom, strawberry milkshake prodigy. Soooo excited to get clones of it

so I managed to make 3 crosses using a cantaloupe haze male I grew. I crossed it to hindu kush, hash bomb, and an unkown bagseed that it just amazing in growth structure as well as the high and taste.

I managed to clone the hindu kush so she is alive and well. I also saved the hash bomb. I had to reveg her. still working on a clone.

in the meantime I now have a fem mango from blimburn seeds(was a freebie) she clones easy and is prolly going to stay in the lineup for a while.

I also now have a Durban poison male in clone form and I also have a mature male Durban to collect pollen from (same male)

I plan o using that pollen to pollinate all the females I have including the femmed mango. and the hindu kush.

I believe I am well on my way to not having to buy seeds again. while maintaining a good variety of smoke:peacock:

sorry guys I don't have a cam or I would post some pics
