I notice more to her then sour and not much kush except for veg wise. When it flowers it looks like sour with a bit of sour smell but also something else happening also. When she's jarred for awhile I can report more. Like the buzz though she's got a stronger feel at least the few samples I've tested.

Tona's got some of the best pics of Irene posted on ICm...
Personally, I thought she hit like a hammer - with a great sour/kushy taste. Every bit as heavy as the pre-98 with a better flavor, in my opinion.

They sure were making fun of a brotha back in 09' huh? All I knew back then is that it stood out amongst other Kushes, Purps, and Urkles back then. And when it came in, it wasn't all compressed and looked fresher than the other imported buds we were getting here. That led me to believe that it was being grown close to my locale and I was maybe 2 or 3 people away from the grower himself. I wish it would come around more often or better yet, wish I had it.
Irene isnt a myth and theres a few threads about her on here. Frank has it right on the head.

Irene is an og sour best of both world with less floppyness.then both ... my sfv cut is always gonna be number 1 og..lifetime keeper... n i keep 2 others always in rotation ... irene aint gonna be counted as n og she got a permanent home now.... big mom pot. Aint gonna be goin nowhere no time... now i can fuck around with 2 diff ogs.. plus i doubt id get that cut back , ..... easily..... she got out but still to get ur hands on the cut.... better know somebody. ....
We've had a grip on her since about the same time the GG#4 came to town...
I don't see why it's a shame she got out - ROFLMAO - I know I've helped several people get her. I don't see what the big deal is.
I guess she's no longer good smoke unless only 5 people have her...I'll never understand that mentality. The guys who run her in ATL don't even consider her the best thing in their stable...and just consider it a good sour kush...that's what's funny.

Well, she's really a special cut. The "A" has held her for about 10 years now. Personally, she's about 5th on my list of cuts I hold. But I wouldn't mind running her without a problem. She's indestructible, hard to mess up, can withstand a bad grower, but when done right will always be considered good herb. But like you said, there are better choices.

Irene can still beat 99% of the imported product that comes from the left side, when done properly. It's character of taste alone is undeniable, the sharpness of flavor can not be disputed. But my purple brolick though.... I believe is better, not OG, but better than Irene, also a very unique strain "if grown properly."
I don't use cannabis to stroke my ego and make me feel like I'm something special. Having something that others can't get only means I have something new to share...especially when restrictions aren't put on it...
Guess I'll never been in the "cool kids club" - but that's okay because I'm not a child...and I don't view it as a popularity contest.
I do this because I love the plant and because I love growing. I love the quality of life cannabis grants me and the fact I no longer need to live in an Rx fog to make it through the days...some people will never understand that.
I still consider myself fortunate to have the opportunity to grow her and have been granted access to her - regardless of the time frame. Much thanks to the fellow that made it possible.

The whole point though is that the REAL original Irene team from the A hoarded it like a MFer and none of them would ever pass it out with out being in the trenches and making you swear on the finest booty at Magic City to not pass it out. The way the Irene got in to the hands of seed breeders today was through broken promises and misrepresentation but it's ok..now people can grow crosses of Irene made with good males and really just get at it...What I really want to know is where is the "rock" pheno...Thanks.

I didn't have to do anything shady to get the cut - like you said - I got her far past that point in the time line to where it would have mattered or to where such stipulations would have been made. So in my eyes - what others did or didn't do doesn't negate the fun I've had with the cut or the benefits I've gotten from the flowers...
Again, I'm just thankful to be able to know what she is all about and to have put a check mark next to her on my cannabis bucket list...it's all about experiences.
