This issue is no sooner remedied by establishing arbitrary "middle grounds" for consumption, either through official channels or just from 'friend to friend' as you put it, or even protocols for production because as GW pointed out, dumb people are doing to do dumb shit. We have BAC levels for motorists. There is a clear and defined point of consumption licensed drivers are not to exceed.

Do you understand that what you're really saying with the whole "moderation" bit if you apply it to another situation is akin to saying women who get raped should really pay attention to what they are wearing? If they could avoid dressing provocatively it might minimize or eliminate the risk of getting raped.
You're perilously close to making that sort of leap by saying we should encourage moderation in our "compatriots" in order to prevent overmedicating because that will somehow prevent people from blowing up cars and apartments.
You fail to grasp that it is dumb, desperate people causing the blow ups. Not hash oil itself. Not consumers of hash oil, though I know you'll say the blow ups occur because they are attempting to meet demand. Well, plenty of producers meet the demand without blowing anything or anyone up. Are they magicians or just well informed and properly prepared?
Let's look at it from another angle...
Do all people have the same appetite? Maybe one pork cutlet fills you up. But maybe Larry needs 4 to feel full because he's 6'2" 220 and you're only 5'7" 150. Two different beasts. Should Larry only eat 1 or 2 in "moderation" in order to accommodate other people and their own perception of "overindulging"?

Just curious, how much BHO have you personally consumed or produced? Considering the reaction I got in the ALSG when I mentioned I was a fan of oil, I can't help shake the feeling you're against something you don't even have any experience with just because that was the way the tide pulled that day.

Even worse than the homes and the cars, if these people could see beforehand what a third degree burn looks like they'd never risk it. It's one thing to hurt yourself too, but when I hear that people have injured their pets, or their human loved ones? How awful.
Recently the one blast caused the death of two dogs. If my dogs died due to my selfishness and ignorance id feel like shit forever. How bout this for some anti wax talk, i have high blood pressure. Ill monitor my heart rate several readings before i smoke weed or wax. Starting at 68 bpm i smoked a bowl and waited 15 minutes. My heart rate increased to 82. The next day the reading was 67 to start when i woke up...took a wax hit and waited 15 mins, it went up to 115! Thats more than double the increase! I cant even smoke it anymore or i could stroke out! I thought that was pretty crazy.

A residential fire in Los Banos led to the discovery of a hash oil laboratory last week, police reported.
Officers were dispatched to 1130 Nevada Ave. at 10:25 p.m. Aug. 21 following a fire at a home there.
Police arrived in time to discover a burning kitchen and hear loud explosions coming from the backyard. Police said the occupants, Austin Goldstein and Kevin Amabile, both 24, were attempting to extinguish the fire.
As the Los Banos Fire Department worked to put out the fire, police noticed evidence of a butane hash-oil laboratory.
Hash oil is a hard, sticky gel with a concentrated amount of THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis.
“Butane hash-oil laboratories are very dangerous. They can explode with the slightest spark, such as turning on a light. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured as a result of the explosion,” said Officer Marcelino Cortez.
The Merced Multi-Agency Narcotics Task Force was contacted, and it obtained a search warrant for the residence. Investigators found additional evidence indicating Goldstein and Amabile were involved in the hash-oil lab, according to police.
Goldstein and Amabile were arrested on suspicion of illegal manufacturing of a controlled substance. Both men remain in custody at the John Latorraca Correctional Center in lieu of $510,000.
Another in house extraction gone bad, when will these people learn. Don't do this in an enclosed area and follow all safety rules such as the ones GreyWolf has formulated, pooled butane when enclosed is a bomb and will make a fireball of over 3000 degree's which will melt steel or your face. There has been NO fires or explosions while using a "Closed System," the system itself contains the butane, it is not allowed to escape or pool. Such systems can be had for as little as $2000. One day in a burn ward is $6,000 to $10,000 or more, very cheap when compare it to hospital and lawyers fee's.

DENVER - A rash of household explosions caused by crude hash-oil production has prompted a proposed ordinance in Denver to ban dangerous methods of making hash.
The proposal comes from Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and was announced Friday. It would make it a municipal violation to make hash oil at home using a solvent, such as butane, which poses enormous fire risk when not properly ventilated. The ordinance would require home hash-oil production to use only water-based or food-based methods.
Commercial marijuana production facilities would still be allowed to use solvents. Those sites undergo extensive fire-code inspections to make sure flammable gases don't build up.
Penalties for the code violation could result in up to a year in jail and a $999 fine.
Denver City Council will consider the proposal Sept. 16.
Why doesn't the City of Denver set aside some spaces where people with closed systems could do their extractions. There has been no explosions or fires within the 2 years these devices have been developed and there is no need for starting laws that aren't needed for these machines. Does the City of Denver even know what a closed system is and how it works? No one wants 2nd and 3rd degree burns or to blow up their house and the Fire Departments of Denver and others like them should teach safety and to use safe devices and especially places to extract. Has the Denver Fire Department done any public service spots on TV or Radio yet, a lot of people would who are extracting now would help as a public service.

A California man suspected of igniting a blaze*while making butane hash oil in a Tigard parking lot faces federal charges under an indictment handed up Tuesday by a grand jury.
Dale Austin Corzine, 29, of Irvine is accused of one count of knowingly and intentionally creating a substantial risk of harm to human life*in connection with the July 29 fire that destroyed his car, another vehicle and damaged three others.
Authorities have said Corzine was making the potent cannabis concentrate inside his car at a TriMet park-and-ride lot near Southwest Pacific Highway and 74th Avenue when the materials exploded.
Corzine, who was injured, also faces a count of knowingly and intentionally manufacturing and attempting to manufacture marijuana. No arraignment date has been set, and Corzine has not yet been taken into custody.
The endangering charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, and the marijuana manufacturing charge carries a maximum of five years.
The indictment is believed to mark the first time the U.S. Attorney's Office in Oregon has filed charges in connection with a hash oil explosion, although federal prosecutors in other districts have begun pursuing prosecutions.
In July, one week before the Tigard explosion, federal prosecutors in western Washington*announced charges against eight people in connection with explosions in Bellevue, Kirkland, Seattle and Puyallup that were believed to have stemmed from extracting hash oil from marijuana.*
