Feco Extractor

I am looking to make Rick Simpson style hash. I do not want to use hexane. I am trying to cure people of epilepsy cancer ms etc. So I have to work with food grade solvents.

I have been trying to find out whats the best unit for making the magic black stuff. I have had my eye on the eden labs coldfinger. http://edenlabs.com/equipment/coldfinger/coldfinger-professional-unit

My buddy has a couple is02 extractors. One is the original one from back in the high times mail order days. He gets about 50% return or less on the alcohol. Ever clear is expensive shit so id like to be able to get a better return.

Anyone else make the black stuff for healing? I have made it the conventional way but i cannot stand the thought of wasting gallons of Everclear. My partner has gone through a trunk full of the stuff already. $$$$

I'd love to see a full picture shoot, inside and out, of an original Thai Power Isomerizer. I owned one back in the mid seventies, it's a robust beast, the Iso2 was a toy by comparison.

We extract oil for healing, but it is dark amber, not black.

Refluxing with ethanol, either in an Iso 2, or a cold finger, will give you a black oil, that when smeared on white paper is actually dark green, because chlorophyll is readily soluble in ethanol.

We freeze our material, chill the ethanol, and use quick wash techniques, rather than reflux with it.

If you distill off your alcohol, and reuse it, it isn't so expensive.

Refluxing works best with a non polar solvent, so if you don't like Hexane, consider Pentane.

Would Heptane work as well here?

I have been reading that in the food industry many are switching from Hexane to Heptane due to similar performance as a solvent without the nervous system toxicity after long term exposure. It seems to me that the companies are concerned for their employees who are in contact with the chemicals and not the end users.

If you're making a lot of "the black stuff", it may be worth it to invest in a dab genius! They're only like 10k and you should get all of your everclear back!

Then you can brag about how you don't use butane to your friends and inform them about the dangers of butane, not because your a self-righteous asshole trying to push your product that you went broke making, but because you care sooo much about their health. (sorry, had to get that off my chest:biggrin:)

Can't you find a decent rotovap for the price of the coldfinger? Wouldn't making it with everclear like normal and then using a rotovap to reclaim some/most of the alcohol work? Don't know much of anything about these devices so I am genuinely curious.

Also, why is it that people prefer to use alcohol instead of butane? Is it not that much cheaper/easier to use butane and then decarb it?

Without a closed loop, I'd be weary of canned butane. Also I can't extract with butane indoors.

I'd prefer to stay away from everything I wouldn't do a shot of. I don't drink but its the principal. This end product will be going to babies and others who are already poisoned by big pharmas. They cannot afford any more toxins.

So maybe I would be best just doing soaks in the freezer then filter out cannabis before distilling off alcohol? I could get by with a simple distiller? Id like it to be glass so i can watch the bubbles boiling and make sure I dont burn it.
Something cheaper like this use to distill off the alcohol but still watch the oil http://edenlabs.com/equipment/coldfinger/mushroom-cap ?

theres no water hook up for that which is why I was leaning towards the first unit i posted. wont the cold water help speed up the distillation process?

google cpn institute on facebook. they are in thornton. they always put pictures of the original unit and the new one up and running. they used it to donated over 900 grams of oil to pediatric patients and other canna refugees who are low income. he doesnt think his is called thai power but the new mock up one is called flower power. I have been following them on there and want to find a better machine for them.

for 10k i would need actual first hand experience with a machine. plus that is 5x out of budget.

Do people drink butane on a regular basis? That is why I want to use ever clear as it is food grade. I also do not believe butane pulls as much of the other goodies besides thc out. I am not a chemist so I do not know about the exact properties of the solvents and what they extract. I just know people use butane to make shatter and wax not for dark feco. If your butane extract comes out dark there is most likely a problem. I am sure I could use a tamisium or similar device then heat the butane in the unit but i do not want butane units as I said in original post. The petroleum industry is the reason cannabis is illegal but that is a different rant. Not trying to get into a pissing match about butane vs alcohol or the price of extractors.

When I helped Eldon make oil he used a pressure cooker with a worm still set up. We had a manual temp gauge from a tata truck to watch the temp. We could only use the alcohol twice without a reflex still to get the proof back to 190. We got back about two thirds of the alc. We did not have a way to freeze things so I have never tried that...

Heptane will work, but it is harder to remove because of the heavier molecule and high boiling point. Pentane would be a better alternative.

If you reflux with alcohol or do long soaks with alcohol, you will also extract and concentrate the chlorophyll, which can and does give some people sever gastric distress. That is why we use the quick wash techniques with polar solvents.

Skunk Pharm Research supplies both QWET and BHO based concentrates to cancer and other end of life patients, and I have yet to note differences beyond the error-of-the-sample, so have no ax to grind either way. We have seen miraculous successes and heart breaking abysmal failures both ways.

By all means use 190 proof ethanol, but don't ignore the part about not refluxing or soaking, unless you also choose to ignore the part about making some folks sick.

ive helped about a dozen patients. so far the only one who has stomach issues is the one who is trying to eat 3 grams plus .5 topically of oil a day. if cannabis oil is antibacterial how does that much oil not screw up your digestive flora? plus that patient is taking all kinds of supplements she orders off amazon. i feel like she can be doing her self more harm eating supplements like candy. she was also exposed to feco made with rubbing alcohol. also cant be good for your stomach...

"Do people drink butane on a regular basis?"

Sadly, yes, it's a huge problem in the UK.

that crazy lady is the only video i have seen of a butane huffer. ill admit i havent looked into it but i was curious if your link was the crazy lady ive seen before and it was.
