Nimbin, Australia - perpetual Woodstock ?

I saw this at another website, Gold-Silver.us forums.

I figured some of you might know about Nimbin.

Sounds like they radiate acceptance of Cannabis across the Australian landscape.

That can't be bad.

nimbim = freemasons (check the name of the campground). hear the street retail is run by guys smoking something apart from weed, as powerful men like their dogs. check the news, assaults on the street. i guess if you ignore all of that and dig the set, then it's a good time.

I live within easy driving distance of Nimbin and go there several times a year. The place has a pretty good vibe in general. The town is full of hippies and has a very relaxed attitude to cannabis. However the town is also over policed and there is a remote chance you could get caught if you were stupid. There are a lot of dealers. At various times the cops will crack down on the trade. It never seems to stop it though.
@waveguide, most of the dealers seem to be young people. I have no idea who profits? Probably lots of different people is my guess.

The surrounding countryside is beautiful. Bush, farmland, mountains and rainforest. The coast is about an hours drive to some of Australia's most beautiful surf beaches. Edit: The general area also happens to be a great place to find Psilocybin Cubensis if thats what you're into. November to February.

If you are in Oz Nimbin is worth visiting. Mardi Grass (harvest festival) is on either late April, or May. Can't remember.
