Will traffic deaths rise as states legalize pot?

There's been a lot of fear mongering & speculation (of course!) but CO traffic statistics haven't budged so far, nor likely will they.

Some sources are trying to make a big deal out of increased frequency of metabolites found in dead drivers, but that doesn't mean they were stoned, at all. It just means they test for it more often & more people use cannabis. It's as informative as a piss test, which is to say not at all.

from what reading I have done, traffic deaths have actually dropped in med-legal states. like you say, merely having the metabolites in your piss only proves that you have smoked in the last 3 weeks or so. if you are standing on the corner waiting for the light to change & Joe Dipshit jumps the curb & kills you with his Buick, you are a "cannabis related death" if they find metabolites in your system at the autopsy. what, they didn't realize you had been fucking run over? bullshit..."well, if he hadn't been high he could have leaped into the air as the car went underneath him..." fucking morons...

Depends on who is spinning the data.

The "pot will end civilization as we know it" faction will find a way to make it look like MJ is behind every death..driving or not.

Hard to arrive at the truth when you have an interest in it being one way or the other.

We live right near the S Broadway "entertainment district" here in Denver. What that means is that the City allowed a lot of bars to open up. In that, and in our friends as well, what I'm seeing is people smoking pot to temper their drinking. Even at fairly high levels of combined intoxication, they're not nearly as debilitated as if they'd arrived there by drinking alone.

I'm sure it feels better in the morning, too.

I passed one straddling the centerline the other morning that was holding her phone to her ear with a shoulder, a newspaper to the steering wheel with her left hand, & applying mascara with her right hand. I thought about hitting the bitch hoping she would poke herself in the damn eye...:snap out of it:

Brake check hehehe.
