Good old Joe slappin' people around

I could have bought any system out there I did not choose ETS because of what I saw in person. I have seen every system out there and seeing them side by side I chose the Tamisium because of the build quality was far above and every one I system could find. I know I am going to get people saying this and that please tell me why I should have got the ETS or what ever.

Wer are a real business I can not have a problem with a pump and I can not have the noise of pumps (pumps are loud). I have found some things I would like to change but again I am new to closed loop setups so I am giving my self time to wrap my mind around this.

I would like to think of what you think of the safety of the Tamisium TE-3000.

A youtube review of the CTS TR21 pump showed some kinda scary temps:

curious to know if that is a problem for a CLS. I use an appion and its the second one we have purchaced after the first wouldn't hold its vacuum after 60 or so hours of use. I have never felt safe using the appion and our bhogart, but maybe i just innately paranoid of compressing potentially explosive gasses in a big metal column. Thanks for any replies.

"Please inspect your equipment and remove any dangerous components! We don’t need Closed loopers to start falling in with the BHOtards as a danger to our neighborhoods. We generally have a lot more gas around as well; so the intensity of a closed loop explosion could potentially be much worse. It would only take one to start a campaign against us and throw us in with the open blasters."

Thanks Joe

I'm probably ordering one of these tomorrow to replace my Appion. I'd like to know if it's a good decision...

Better hurry, they are going to be sold out after Joe suggested esp. lol

I've been told they run OK, but hot. So an aftercooler is very much necessary.

I got good service out of our TR-21, but you definitely need an aftercooler to keep from shutting down from over pressure.

With multiple users, ours eventually died after six months or so, alas, from sucking oil laden liquid.

We had poor luck with the MT-69 in low temperature baths, because the tubing size is too small. We made our own heat exchanger from 20' of 3/8" stainless, which works well.

None of the oil less compressors presently offered are explosion proof, but at least the TR-21 has a fully enclosed fan cooled motor instead of open windings, so is less likely to ignite the butane in the event of a release.

The search for a perfect solution goes on, with some interesting possibilities on the horizon.

Skunk Pharm Research has agreed to test one such possibility and help with the R&D required to bend it to our will.

More on that once we have the actual hardware and have not only tested it and have analytical results back from the third party forensic lab.

No need to start a stampede, only to subsequently break hearts when feet of clay are revealed with increased field testing.

WolfWurx, Inc is also reviewing larger units from manufacturers such as Corken, for mass extraction at commercial levels. Not suitable for finishing vacuum levels, but they will get you that level fast.

When using your 3/8" exchanger with the tr-21, were you using just ice/water bath? Did you wrap it around the tank or give it it's own bath?

I'm finding that a separate bath might be more productive. Just wondering if dry ice is necessary..

I was also curious to anyone's tests with using only a heat exchanger to cool the butane stream. Using it after the tank and before the input

Thats what permaculture does, I'm going to try it with 2 mt69's and normal ice. Cool the flood from the tank without first cooling the tank, then cooling the recovery from the appion.

Are you going to put both mt-69's into the same ice bath?

This is what I plan on getting instead of the mt-69

http://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Steel-Jockey-Draft-Coil/dp/B00420V094

I would be able to set them side by side in the same ice chest with denature alchy/dry ice and have no need for a big trash can to hold my r/c tank. Which gets annoying having to empty everyday

It might even be a good idea, because of the high psi in the recovery tank from not being chilled added to the slow flow for cryo butane. Might help the overall flow?

I don't know, perhaps I need a second opinion

I might put them in the same bath not sure, yet, I am using just normal ice though to start, not DI. I might do salt ice but nothing colder.
I'll eventually get the 3/8x50 setup.
What fittings are you going to put on that chronski?

I figured I would just go with the Gyrolock compression fittings since I'm familiar with them now. I'm am a little unsure of the psi of the SS tubing that I linked though, or if I can bend it.. So I need to contact them.

He can't really say the psi of the SS since it isn't a big issue for sending beer through..

He obviously wouldn't suggest it be used for anything else I'm sure so I didn't ask further.

I may just take an offer from a friend and grab an mt-69 from him in the meantime of upgrading to 3/8".. Let me know how your experiments go icdog.

I'm still going to use my promax until I can afford the cps tr-21.. My head has been spinning in circles. Haha

Our heat exchanger has its own tank, in which we have run ice water, as well as ice water with dry ice. We haven't run alcohol and dry ice yet.

We plan to add additional heat exchanger coils to the same bath for cooling the streams at other locations.

We've also picked up a Dewar of liquid Nitrogen and are experimenting with it as a refrigerant. It can be run through its own coil in the bath and vented to atmosphere.
