When the U.S. Dollar collapses how will MJ and food be affected?

For the last year and few months I've watched and listened to economist that are predicting another crash which will be bigger than 2007/2008 one we experienced. The banks now have more control and power than ever.

Most people don't know this and won't believe you when you tell them the federal reserve is not part of the government but actually a privately owned institution. Are dollar is getting devalued every moment since the fed has been printing billions of dollars and putting them into circulation, mostly through the stock market which is why some people say the stock market is inflated. The dollar has been the worlds reserve currency because pretty much all oil had to be traded using it. Recently some of the biggest nations and economies in the world have been getting off our petro dollar because they see how the fed is devaluating it at a rapid rate. However it's still not anywhere where it could be, I've heard a few predictions by some very smart people that say when the dollar collapses and we have hyper inflation the prices of everything will be ridiculously expensive.

I'm very grateful that I've learned how to grow my own mj organically which in turn has taught me how to grow organic food as well. I feel this skill is gonna invaluable in the future especially if the economy does crash again and/or the dollar collapses.

I'd like to hear from others, and get different points of view from my fellow icmaggers...

Just what we need....big dose of reality, or something far fetched...or anywhere inbetween.

As we older folks say...weed (indeed!) and learn to be self reliant, friends and family in our hip pocket. Everything ebbs and flows....just gotta roll with the punches.

Lost a lot from being too bullish in high earning stocks/mutual funds...in 2001 and lesser extent, 2008. Being diversified helped even out, but will never recover from the 2001 loss.

So you do your best, plan for the worst...live simply, enjoy Life. We're just a blip on a radar screen in LIFE time passes before/after us.

Since concept of dollar/currency exchange is based on "FAITH"....the same as any alternative system would require, the world will just shift to some other country's paper money that most people have "FAITH in". Today it is USA dollars....tomorrow Chinese yen?

Lots of factors involved.

Well we have to consider if society is educated enough and respects property rights and if they see the advantages of peaceful voluntary exchange. Then without the state everyone will be fine generally speaking we will even flourish.
If society does not have morals and through political action and personal actions, just wants to steal, lie and mistreat others, then it be dangerous to possess those things openly.

We have the chance to change things now. I think that should be considered the best option. END THE FED. Personal and economic freedom is what will work to avert this horrible fate.

well, we grow the food for a hell of a lot of the planet. I think we will just jack up the price of corn, wheat, etc & just keep on going.
the rest of the world needs the food we supply more than we need the disposable plastic bullshit that Wal-Mart imports from China. if our economy goes bad, THEY go bankrupt with us. if we aint importing, they aren't exporting. if they aint exporting, their workers are sitting on one thumb, sucking on the other, & switching thumbs every 15 minutes to get some flavor... so fuck 'em, TWICE! JMHO

it might be useful to describe what 'collapse' will mean
dollars worth zero? that really can't happen short of a real Armageddon
oh we could get massive inflation/deflation, and that could take us to a very bad place
like the depression years of the 30's
but walls of starving people marching/crawling into the county?

Educated? Respect property rights? I think we just got the answer to that in the shooting case in Missouri. It doesn't take much for people to start looting and burning, showing their true colors.

well to be honest my real fear is this one economy model is subject to a single point of failure, multiple economies offer diversity which offsets it.

our economy has maintained itself because the black market has helped the middle class keep from being completely marginalized by gorparate (government/corporate) interests.

now that our black markets (weed production) are becoming legal gorparate interests control it as well and put it under the one economy point of failure.

not suggesting there shouldn't be legal, im just saying it seems a potential consequence of bring it to the legal market.

im also not advocating for a black market, i think there are other means to market diversity such as the internet / brick and mortal models offer different market challenges and opportunities.

Well no one said it was going to be easy. Education is the key. Raising our own children to use common sense and respect other people is paramount. Private individual security and security forces for hire are much more effective than government.
Often they have the opportunity to resolve matters in the least violent ways. They need to find the most effective and peaceful means to resolve situations or they will go out of business , in the case of security forces for hire. Every individual has the right to defend themselves from violence so where there is no security force available , you need to do what you have to, to protect you ,your loved ones, and your property.

When the dollar collapses IMO its going to be total anarchy the money you thought is in your bank will no longer be there banks will be closed
So you better be prepared
If you think you are armed lol think again there probably be army on the streets with bigger guns that will not arrest you ,, they will have a presidents order to shoot you if you get out of hand ...
Gas food , will of course sky rocket,, and in matter of time run out ,,,, The last thing people are going to worry about is weed....... when only thing on your mind is water and food just go out one day with 0 money in your pocket and try to find food and water ???? remember when this happens if you don't have actual gold or silver you ain't going to get shit cause them 20 dollar bills in your pocket in reality is asswipe in that alley your going to shit in lol
the Government will be prepared weeks before and have everything in place citizens will see armored vehicles painted in urban ware fare week prior probably in some make shift military camp that the news will mention is a us military training bla bla .
Fema camps will be come reality its just a matter of time folks Do not think its not going to happen but think When is it going to happen
the legal infrastructure is in place
The military commissions act , The patriot acts 1 and 2 , , The John warner defense act , The NDAA,
There is no hiding to the FACT that these are in place So are you ready
Are you ready for the coming tyrannical crackdown and the complete evisceration of our constitutional liberties? Have you taken the proper precautions that will ensure the safety of you and your family? It is not likely that very many of us have taken any meaningful steps to maximize our chances for survival in what will prove to be humanity’s darkest days. Do you have what it takes to survive in a FEMA camp?

When the FEMA bus rolls into your neighborhood, are you prepared to deal with what lies ahead? Let’s assume for a moment that martial law is declared and you were not able to find a safe sanctuary. Subsequently, you are arrested by the powers that be. Your family will be separated by the authorities as a prelude to sending you to a FEMA camp, and that means that men will go to one facility and women will go to another. Children will have their own facility awaiting them. In all likelihood, this will mark the last time you will ever see your family. How do I know this? Read the Rex 84 documents.

Imagine how a man who is deprived of everyone he has ever cared about, and at the same time this man has lost his house and all of his possessions, how will he survive? There are two primary dangers facing detainees. The first is bad luck. The second danger is the loss of hope. Victor Frankl, the renowned psychiatrist, who spent four years in Auschwitz, thought that the loss of hope was the number one factor associated with prisoner mortality in a concentration camp detention situation. How will you find meaning in your life when you’re separated from everything you’ve ever known and loved?

Can someone define "dollar collapse"? Lots of people have different interpretations of exactly what that means.

Some suggest (as Dr Fever does) that you bank account will be zero...to that I say, who stole my money?

Some suggest that hyperinflation will make $100 worth $1 and that is the "dollar collapse"....requiring wheel barrels of money to buy a loaf of bread. Loss in purchasing power.

Some suggest that the US dollar will become worthless due to political calamity from past fiscal irresponsible decisions and will force USA to default on their financial obligations (which means the Treasury will not be able to borrow any more--causing everyone to shun US dollars).

With that in mind, remember all a dollar bill does is to allow two people exchange goods and services at different values. If I make $10/hour and you earn $100/hour then I need to work 10 times more to buy the same thing...exchanging 1 hour of my time for 1 hour of your time does not make sense--especially if I am a clerk and you are an attorney (primary problem with bartering).

Faith, "keep the faith baby"...all economic systems are based on faith and people are quick to adapt to the "new currency" whatever it is: bitcoin, gold/silver, lbs of MMJ, bottles of booze/water, bullets, gasoline, sex, etc. LOL....kinda hard to carry 10 sex acts in one's wallet...lol.

BTW, during times of economic uncertainty (inflation, depression, recession, war, etc) booze sales always increase. Ever wonder why the barb wire on top of perimeter fence at FEMA camps faces inwards (as if to prevent campers from leaving)...instead of facing outwards to thwart "intruders"? Who says "the government" is your friend?....lol. Why stock up on gold/silver when booze can get the job done....liquid assets and all that, lol!

There is very little actual printed dollars out in circulation. So if some thing does happen the government will lock down everyones eletronic currency if something happens.

Like Eclipse said the dollar is just a form of exchange. So having something of value on hand to barter with will be important. MJ has value. Many people use it for pain and will need it to do actaul hard work if need be. MJ is just one of the things that can be traded for value.

That said I think having some actaul cash on hand will be important. How hard will it be to buy gas or food if everyones accounts are frozen and you can not use debit or credit cards. What could happen is not limited to whether the dollar fails but could be any number of things. Some are hurricanes, fires, pandemic, power outages ect. So having cash on hand could help you get out faster or even getting out.

If it all were to collapse, the larger question is: What are you prepared to do,and how far will you go?Same question essentially.

Let's say you are prepared for the eventuality by having a large garden in full production. What will you do when the starving families come knocking? Are you going to protect that garden 24/7?With what?

What about that well you have? All the folks who were lured to the city with the promise of jobs and a bright future, will suddenly be looking for food and water.

Just things to...you know..kick around if it were to ever happen.
