Looking for people who have experienced def issues when they switched over to higher intensity lighting like the gavita or e-papillon lighting systems. Or if you are running any ballast that is running the Phillips 400v 1000watt de phillips Master greenpower bulbs.

Looking to hear what issues u may have had an how you solved them throughout? These new lights threw me a curve ball. I am feeling my issues probably are stemming increased plant metabolism.

first 15 days 600 watt setting. since I have not come off the 825w setting. The reflector is no closer then 24-30 inchs. Plants where well established into the transfer. Day 30 i really started seeing heavy issues.

I have maybe 8 or 9 different genetics in the Ebb& flood bucket system. I see either one or all these deficiencies. Mg, cal, n an phos Some plants exhibit one or all of those deficiencies. Most aren't as Green as the should be. Some plants are perfectly healthy!! Is it nute burn??

I know its harder to run multiple strains in the same system. But i have run multiple strains in the similar setups with great success prior with hortilux bulbs.

I feel my Nute def issues are probably due to Higher plant metabolism rates.

Dont want to make this post a mile long so the next post i will get into my nute program. GH micro & bloom ratio with cal mag, pk boosters an organic additives. i will also cut an paste the help chart to aid in this confusion.

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]1 I am not sure why i cant cut an paste the sick plant guidelines. When it pastes it goes to white font an cant be seen. Itried changing the font color, it says its black, but appears white still. It cannot be seen with the background. i dotn have time to keep messing with it...

room is 9x20. Actual canopy sqft is 9x16. 8 e-papillon 1000's spaced 2 ft from the walls an 4ft on center. Co2 burner to be installed in next day or two when i find the gas fittings i misplaced.

Gh Micro bloom ratio. Pk boosters, organic additives.

For ease of writing we are using flowering day 1-15, 15-30, 30-45, 45-55:60, then flush

ph 5.8 mainly. some days when ph is dropping over a day or 2, i bring it to 6.0 an let it drift down to 5.8 for next light cycle, hold it an run that light cycle at 5.8. then next day i let it drift down 5.6 an run that for a light cycle. The next day i up to 5.8 an hold, maybe up to 6.0 the next. By then its time for a rez change. Bottom line is i drift with the natural progression of the ph. Or if things are stable i run 5.8. I feel i've seen better water uptake from my prior experiences running 5.8. i also see my highest growth rates an nute consumption from the rez at 5.8. Straight Water addbacks

If ph is stabilized i run 5.8. but i like to have a little swing too.

the room Rh set to 50%

PPms at day 40 ride about 1600ppm,160 of that are water. Ppms slowly rise throughout the light cycle showing more slight water uptake with some nute left behind. by end of that light cycle it could have raised to 1680-1700. straight water add back usually brings me to about original. Aprrox 7-12 gals a day.

today approx day 40 they are drinking 10 or so gallons a day.

My current feeding sched in flower goes something like......

day1-15

GH micro at 6mill per gal, bloom at 9 mill per gallon. 6/9
Cal-mag 5-8 per gal
Earth juice mag 5 mil
Agisil silica at 75% recomdended
Rhizotonic at 5mil per gal

every 15 days i change out my floating teabag. the teabag consists of 1/2 cup ewc castings, 2 tbsp mychorizzae, 2 tbsp sea kelp, tsp or 2 of sp90 humic acid, 1-2 tblsp azomite organic trace minerals.

day 15-30

up the micro bloom to 8/10
start the pk booster at 5 mil per gal of koolbloom liquid.
up the calmag to 8mil per gal
earht juice micro 5mil per gal
agisil still 75% recomended.
rhizotinic at 5mil

day 30-45

8/10
start kool bloom powder at 1 tsp per 5 gal which is approx 150ppm
still run the cal mag @ 8
earth juice mag @5 mil per gal.
agisil up to 100% which is .7 grams per gal, which is about 4 tblsp diluted into my 60 gal rez

thats wheere im at now.

I know ive made mistakes here in typing, an may have overlapped some things. I am horrible at getting thoughts an ideas to paper. i've been here writing for 2hrs. enough is enough. i'll come back later... lots of work to be done. i got a co2 burner flexhose to run....

will have pics soon..

thanks anyone in advance. b-safe

another thought is i have not setup the co2 burner yet.

All my feeding sceds that i carried over from before had a co2 burner running at 1000ppm.

while there is fresh air exchange, but maybe not enough to keep up with higher light & feedings..

hummmm

Lights look a little close to me I'd either raise them or dial them down to 600 to finish up the crop.

The severe leaf scorching would lead me to believe you're feeding at too high of a rate. The ppm's of your nute solution frighten me. Mine is only 550ish, and Im experiencing a high EC level in my media, but thankfully no leaf scorching yet. But i know if I dont drop the EC quickly, they will experience leaf scorching.

Well dave if they were 2ft tall an growing in soil like yourself i would take that advice. But they are in hydro ebb&flood buckets. 18 of the 24buckets average 5&1/2 ft tall an 4ft in diameter. An under some serious lighting. To think i was gonna hang vertically another 8 600mh's. Appreciate the suggestion thou...

z-ro i think you maybe partially correct. i raised the lights another 8-10 inches an gonna see how it goes. Thanks for the advice... these new lights are more powerfull then i imagined, an there only at 75% power, 825w. i was thinking they where at a good distance. But as i do analyze the room, the worst off areas are taller an closer to the light.

the g13's in the last photo are some of the smallest in the room. the darker green indica leaning plants are only 2-1/2 3ft tall. They are the furthest from the light.

Follow up.

Follow up.

Well i think there was a few contributing factors that all played a part.

1) Reflector height. Even thou they never came of the 825watt setting, 24 inches may have been to close.

2) P & K nutrient uptake. I use GH Micro & bloom ratios, plus additives. I had a 1/3 full 6 gallon container of GH Bloom left over. It was probably pushing 2 years old. I was shut down for over a year. The nutes could've been ok, But i am unsure.

3) micro nutes. Plants exhibited micro def like iron, sulfur, mag an calcium. This run in addition to the cal mag i will be running Earth Juice Micro blast the full run.

This run My 65 gal rez will be changed every 5 days religiously. not every 5 to 8 days on how i feel. every 5 days. I will float the ph from 5.6-6.2. each day the rez will be a ph deg higher or lower depending on which way the ph drifts.

averaged 1.25 per light. also had 6 small plants in there.

Surprised that even alot of the lowers had density to them. all in all it could've been worse. next run is prevegging , waitng for the roots to fill the 5 gals a little more.

Hoping this run i dont see atleast half the nute def from last time. Plants just kept eating themselves, something i was not used to in AWHILE!!!

Judging by the grow bro you know what your doing nice buds BTW and there is a thred somewhere on here bout guys having to jack up ppms under these bright lites wish i could remember where. B

I have the gavita de 1000 with the Philips greenpower bulb. I run them right next to my aaw or xxxl magnum unvented hoods with new horti eye bulbs running off the humboldt county lights micromole ballasts aka original gavita digistars and my plants NOT under the double ended bulbs look way healthier. Under the Philips de bulb, even at the 600 setting, the plants are always lighter green. Idk what's goin on. I got my strains and feeding program down. Just the way it is. Plants under the de bulb yield better and finish faster, when its all said and done. So I'm old with it.

cls. they do seem to push the limits of the plants nute uptake ability.

finding out the other thing that plagued my last run an this last preflower was my RH meters where way off. the meter i was using was saying it was 55+ rh, while my meters on the dehumid said below 35%. I went out an bought 2 new differnt meters an compared them to the dehumidifier. dehumidifier was right, room was below 30% with lights on. broke out the humidifiers an now im riding 55-60% rh . they have been much happier since.
