Developing Claws

Im deep into flowering. (Deep. Its Pk13/14 time.)
2 days ago one of my 12 charges started displaying claws in her newest growth. Yesterday it got serious and I flushed her. Today its worse. Shes got an enormous amount of new growth and theyre all too dark green baby claws and clusters. Worse, 2 other plants showed signs of claws. Last time it was too much water. Or maybe Nitrogen or Phosphorus.

:tiphat: Help!

pictures would help. anyway claw is usually overfertilization. mostly nitrogen, but on new leaves i would say maybe too much phos.

Am i supposed to change my base nutes? Theyre peaking now with max base nutes. The 13/14 is a limited shot- a week at most-before final flowering

yup , you lower your base strength when adding the PK 13/14 . the same thing happened to me when i first used it . its pretty strong for a PK boost . next time drop yer base nutes about half & only use about half strength PK13/14 too .

you can flush the pots out with a low dose base nute mix , to help them finish , but the damage is done my friend & they won't recover that much from it now .

heres the purple frostbytes that took a beating from my PK overload . locked them right up on me . they grew 3x the size on my next round with them .

Luv the blinds in the back of that pic! I take it the lights are on during the day..

Yes as Dansbud said you def need to lower your base nutes when you start hittin em with the late boosters...

lmao !!! no , its to keep the lights tight to the tray of plants instead of spreading out in the room . the idea as ghetto as it was , worked pretty good !

Unregisterd agreed w/ Dansbuds but Dansbuds came back with a contraindication. Wassup?

we're all telling you claw is from overfertilization, dansbud is telling you to drop the nitrogen (base nutes) when you've switched to flower and start dumping em with PK boosters.

what's contridictory about what i said ? when you add any PK boost , you lower your base nutes to compensate for the added EC of the PK booster . PK13/14 is pretty strong , so i suggest using HALF of their recommended dosage . thats how i got lock out was using it full strength .

The time of life fits for N toxicity. Although, you should also do some research into Epinasty. It is essentially the same symptoms (curled leafs) but from root health/death and not actually over feeding the plant. Sometimes the answer is a root support product, Cannazym, Orca, SR-71, and the like.

Not saying that's what you should do... Just, be aware of it and make sure you're looking at your problem from every angle.

curled leaves are not too much N
big myth in canna culture
maybe nute overload, or a lockout of cal. or could be from roots dieing

Is it possible its some sort of disease

Is it possible its some sort of disease

Ive listened to a lot of advice on this.
Some seemed good.
Some seemed to work.
But it seems to spread like a contagion.
I moved 5 new plants into flower.
3 were placed near an older plant with claws.
They displayed claws in exact order, from closest to farthest-1-2-3.
The other 2 remained normal.
All were fed the same.
All had the same light, air, etc.
Will send pix in a.m. after 12/12
Somethings terribly wrong.
Gonna try a complete dry out.
But Im not sure
Any advice?

whats ur ec and ph going in, and coming out. that can clue u in on over fert. Keeping them too wet will do it to. Have ur roots filled in your medium completely where they dry out once a day?

Ill shoot in the dark. To much n in your feed.. If 1 2 3 are all showing signs even at diff time..prob too much n. Cut back/dilute your ec. Just guessing of course...let me know if im right

Where did the invisible bugs go that were eating your leaves? Down into the coco for a larval stage? You also had problems with new growth being too yellow. You never really had a handle on the nutes you use, I would have dumped them and went to something simpler. All of a sudden doing a complete dryout with coco in bloom sounds whack.:tiphat:
