I want everyone to look at this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabinoid_hyperemesis_syndrome & give your opinion of the possibilities of getting ahold of fucked up THC (or whatever)....There is a doc here that SWEARS my son has this & I got all kinds of pissed off about it, cuz he tested +THC...I really want some opinions on this cuz this his second time in the last few months...Like my son just said "I trust those guys more than some doctor".....what do you think?

See that's what I thought...the dispensary weed that is coming out of the stores down here is shit lately...packed full of seeds & whatnot...they are trying sooooooo hard to keep the stores supplied, that they are growing in mass production & doing some major fuck ups....what I figure is that this may also apply to growth nutes, ferts, etc...if they are packing the chemicals on heavy to get a quicker heavier yields, well shit....but this "illness" has very little documented facts & is just general weed use...But if somebody is fucking with the chemicals & laying it on heavy I can see how this could be!? I got real pissed cuz as soon as his drug test came back +THC, that was it...everything stopped & he was labeled "drug user" & this quickie diagnosis was thrown on him...& this is in a legal state?? His potassium & sodium was sooooo messed up, the ER Doc said he has never seen one so low & have the patient talking...I just want some levelheaded opinions on this....so, it is possible, but the Doc made it seem like it was just weed use....Bad Bad Weed...LOL

I have the ability in Oregon to take product to the dispensaries.
All batches need testing, though only a small portion is tested for contaminants.
The whole batch is visually inspected for signs of bugs and molds under magnification.

For me to sell meds, I must pay to test the batch and prove it's clean.
I can then take the certified batch to any preferred partner dispensary of the testing lab.
They have about 20 preferred partners right now.
Active gardeners with quality weed are also offered a preferred partnerships.

What probably happened in CO was a dispensary owner buying untested product to skirt the laws because of short supply's.
Shame on them for passing a contaminated product.

Goes to show that there will always be room for great, well grown product.
Once a good grower get's a reputation for providing quality clean weed, they'll never have to worry about making an honest living.

There's 2 issues, first... makers of edibles are now required to submit samples for potency testing.
As far as the other... Once a dispensary here has a strain tested, some dont re-test that particular strain again for sometimes a whole year... running batch after batch throughout the year untested especially big joints with many plants... so... after their yearly GDP test when they get problems with the strain or room and decide to pour Paclobutrazol or anti-pest poisons all over the plants... who knows it?
For those unaware, PACLO has been shown to cause cancer and liver damage in rats. In fact, it's so bad that agricultural laws make it illegal to use PACLO on ingestible fruits, flowers, or vegetables....

The EPA has only approved Paclobutrazol for use on grass, shrubs, potted plants, and other non-consumable goods.

Several hydroponics nutrient products, including Bushmaster, Gravity, Flower Dragon, and Phosphoload have all been tested by the California Department of Food & Agriculture and shown to contain PACLO.

and as far as substitutions? happens all the time... the dispensary I generally go to when I dont have what I want on hand... well... just 2 days ago I'm in there..they tell me the shelves were low and they didnt know what the strain in question was because they bought it from an outside source... the label on the bottle of "ingredients" was the standard one they always used, yet they had not grown the product. so thats incorrectly labeled, who knows how it was grown, and it's passed off as organic right down to being grown with and possibly containing the 7 standard elements listed individually, kelp extract and "remnants of indistinguishable biological organisms" lol I guess they were made to put something on the label...
cant just say "soil and water" ...

This is why the right to grow your own should be spread along with legalization. If not, its all up to giant chemical agri-business what you breath in and out.... or the alternative to that would be to be illegal and surrounded by a legal market still in jeopardy from legal ramifications... thats not any legalization I can recognize.

SG, you do a bit of testing... about what would it cost for a 10 pack of testing if you were required to do all tests: a thc test, an insecticide/fungicide test, a microbiological contamination test and in the case of extracts a residual solvents test... doubtful they'd require a terpine test..

The big boys will just set up and run their own labs when this is required for everything... and lets remember the Quail Hollow Farm Raid... where private citizens on a private organic farm were descended upon by the health department during a "Farm-to-Fork Farm Dinner" who then destroyed most of their food and forced them to pour bleach on what was left.

Susan deemed our food unfit for consumption and demanded that we call off the event because:

1. Some of the prepared food packages did not have labels on them. (The code actually allows for this if it is to be consumed within 72 hours.)

2. Some of the meat was not USDA certified. (Did I mention that this was a farm to fork meal?)

3. Some of the food that was prepared in advance was not up to temperature at the time of inspection. (It was being prepared to be brought to proper temperature for serving when the inspection occurred.)

4. Even the vegetables prepared in advance had to be thrown out because they were cut and were then considered a “bio-hazard”.

5. We did not have receipts for our food. (Reminder! This food came from farms not from the supermarket! I have talked with several chefs who have said that in all their years cooking they have never been asked for receipts.)

At this time Monte, trying to reason with Susan to find a possible solution for the problem, suggested turning this event from a “public” event to a “private” event by allowing the guests to become part of our farm club, thus eliminating any jurisdiction or responsibility on their part. This idea infuriated Susan and threatened that if we did not comply the police would be called and personally escort our guests off the property. This is not the vision of the evening we had in mind! So regretfully, again we complied.

The only way to keep our guests on the property was to destroy the food.

These regulations are no good for those of us who dont use potentially toxic or cancerous chemicals and who just want to be left the hell alone... they make requirements... and then apply them across the board to everyone... even Johnny Homegrown...
Should a smaller caregiver, with few patients, in a local situation be required to have the exact same inspection routines and requirements as a 1,000,000 watt weed-mart warehouse?

I have always cured meat in-house, made house ales/wines and do butchery on the side. Everything I want to do is illegal.

I got in a argument (that is what I'm calling it) with my lady. We were talking about my next restaurant and where it would be. I said that I wasn't going to serve any inbev or sabmiller products. She didn't agree with me. SO to that I said I won't bother raising my own chickens and pigs and growing 88% of my produce needs myself. SG, you do a bit of testing... about what would it cost for a 10 pack of testing if you were required to do all tests: a thc test, an insecticide/fungicide test, a microbiological contamination test and in the case of extracts a residual solvents test... doubtful they'd require a terpine test..

I wouldn't spend money on individual full nugget tests.
If they were batches going to market then yes.
I haven't inquired the prices yet, but will pass the info to you when I find out.

Terpene testing is more for strain ID purposes since terpenes haven't been fully studied for any specific uses.

Gas chromatography testing is used for most contaminant ID.
Everything has it's own signature, molds, pesticides, residual chems etc.

As the science grows, better techniques and shared results will refine the testing.

As in even the food industry, minimum levels of contaminants will be allowed.
Such disgusting things as rat hairs and poop, insect parts, molds, etc.
Nothing is expected 100% pure, just within limits.

Personally, I'm only going to worry about my garden and my product.
I'll leave all the rest of the fucked up growers and the crap they grow for someone else to deal with.
Can't protect the world, but I can protect those consuming my product.

Many, many crappy growers will have to stay in the black market.
Only the best, in time, will be on the shelves.
