Hey all. I posted few ? In new growers forum but didn't get all the answers and since it's coco grow I thought I may have more luck here, so here it is:
“*few newbie questions. First grow.Posting for the first time I want to say hi to everyone, love the forum.Im growing in a stealth cabinet kind of thing in cocco, hand watered drain to waste. My babies are 4 -2 weeks old, I noticed a mossy green slimee thing on top of cocco in the pots, like some kind of*algae. what is it, what should I do about it? Im using a 23W CFLs light for veg. What's a good distance between bulbs and babies? For nutes im using GH flora micro and bloom , h3ad formula and it works gr8, should I be using it for the whole life cycle of the plants or I should be raising it? Would using cali-mag with it be beneficial? I would like to learn how to calculate the nutes, links welcome. Any info and tips appreciated and welcome. Peace." Another ? Is lighting color temperature spectrum very important , or as long as im on the cool side of spectrum im fine? Im asking because I have 2 sets of bulbs, one 1600 Lumens 5K Kelvin, other 1160 Lumens 6.5K Kelvin, which should I go with, maybe both?

H3ad fofmula should get you through all the way unless you see a deff. Then maybe raise it a touch. With that formula use epsom salt @1/4 tsp per gal as addi g calmag introduse to much ca for tbat ratio. Some peeps cut out the micro late in flower at like week 7 on a 10 wkr (0/9). Cfl s or t5s should be as close as you want without burning(sometimes even touching the light) but id say 8 _12 inches to give room 4 new growth. Coool spectrum for veg..warm spectrum for flowering...some peeps like both spectrums in flower. Someone will be by with a nute calc for u ag some point. Let the top of coco dry out a bit and algea should disappear. I think I coverd most of your ? S. Pics or it didnt happen :)
peace

that green stuff is most likely trichoderma which is a beneficial. Unless your certain it's mold/algae from stagnant air.

Most likely it's trichoderma, it seems to be a common occurrence/added beneficial. Some people freak out and think they have white mold on top too when it's salt.

23W CFL's should be a few inches away - check out seemorebuds book on cfl growing grow 8 0z for less then 100$...great book.

5K and 6.5K are both pretty much on the blue side - you can use whatever you would like although I would prefer 1600 lumens..

check out this link for NPK ratios and all kinds of goodies

Here's a great video on nutrient antagonisms

http://www.greenhousegrower.com/video/fertilizer-nutrition/v-understanding-nutrient-antagonisms/

also watch others if you want..

there's also a nute calculator laying around here somewhere - you can calculate your feedings if you'd like.

Snow knows his nutrients so if he pops in im sure he can help u with a balanced feed. I myself..not so good with nutrient profiles ..however it can only be plug in numbers to calculator and see if you get in the acceptable range on all micro and macro nutrients. To be honest all your questions have been answered 1000 times in other posts so I suggest using the search button and reading alot of grownd daries. Not trying to be a dick. Jus sayin. Good luck . And welcome to ic mag..its a dope site.

Looks male to me. You can give it another 2-3 days and if you still don't see any white hairs, definitely male.

Its algae and it will happen until the plants fill out and shade the coco...I used to scrape mine out with my fingers and put new coco in...it will stop. As for the calmag I wouldn't do it. I just got thru veg with 6/9 and didnt use anything else besides some silica and theyre probably the healthiest looking plants ive ever grown. Simplicity is the beez kneez in coco my kneegrow! Quote that ^ lol
