How hot will room with grow tent get?

Thinking of setting up a 2x2 tent with 150w hPs vented directly outside thru the window. Problem is the only place I have space for it is the bedroom. Worried it will be too hot to sleep. How much heat will it give off? I'm in the pacific NW, no ac .

150w shouldn't be bad heat wise .. especially if u have a exhaust fan taking it right out the window.... basically. with the right exhaust fan.. u wont get much heat coming off the tent.. but unless u set up a air intake also.. u will be taking air from the bedroom. and exhausting it.. so when u cook in the house. or anything smoke.. the air from the house will end up going into your room.. then into your grow tent..

so if u do this.. just make sure u have a air intake and exhaust.. and ull be fine.. especially if u take air from a cooler room as ur intake.. maybe a basement.. or even outside if u need to .. but honestly. just do a exhaust an intake.. and ur room should be fine with a small tent like that.

Those systems crank out about 800 BTU. In about 20cuft, that's a temperature change of a couple of degrees in a few minutes. It'd be equivalent to running a 1000w system in a 4x4x7.

If your air exchange is sufficient (and with only 20cuft I don't see how it couldn't be) then you'll have no issues. I suggest a 4" inline exhaust fan on a speed controller with a carbon filter. This will probably give you an exhange rate of at least 2x per minute, and up to probably 8x per minute on high. With a low enough intake (ambient room) temperature, ideally around 70-72f, your interior temperature in the tent shouldn't deviate much more than 3-6 degrees from the intake.

Thanks dudes. I like it cool when I sleep. And I gotta get up early everyday for work, so if I don't get much sleep it's kind of a shitty day for me and want to make sure I don't mess up my sleep patterns.

I guess even if things get a bit hotter I can crack a window (since it will be over winter), there are two in the room. It's a good point about the cooking smells, but I live in a small house so when I cook a good curry or something else stanky it pretty much gets in there anyways.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't gonna pump up the temps by like 5-10 degrees and go from a nice cool 65 ambient (this is ideal for me sleeping wise, I never turn on the heat in my bedroom even in winter) to a 75 from the grow tent. If anything I could run a duct from window 1 as intake, and go from the tent to window 2. This would be the bomb diggers, but I maybe it would be *too* cold in the winter.

ya.. but u don't want your buds.. to take on the smell of used cooking oil.. and shit like that.. I had my exhaust blasting.. with a passive intake.. and it was taking all my weed smoke and cig smoke into my garden.. and it gunked up my carbon filter with a nasty residue. and it just isn't good..

if ur smart.. grab a window fan.. that u can control each side.. with intake and exhaust.. and the speed of each side .. since they come with 2 fans in them.. then make a window box over the window fan.. and have it divided so 1 fan is intake.. 1 is exhaust.. put the exhaust on high.. and the intake on medium.. or low.. run ducting from your window to your tent..

and your good to go .. no issues.. and wen winter comes. u grab a 4 inch or 6 inch Damper.. and if using a fan controller u can get it to perfect temps all winter long..

I run cold air intake from outside in the winter.. a 6 inch.. 190cfms.. into a 4000w room .. and I just take off my glass from my hoods.. or drop the bulbs vertically in the winter.. and in the summer usually just put the glass back up and air cool them. works well..

this year had an issue with our living situation. so cant grow indoors till the new place is ready to move into.. GAY.. but outdoors is doing well so we shall see.

A 150w hps puts out about the same as a 110w space heater. Ideally, you want internal temps around 75*F +/- lights on and around 65*F +/- at lights out. So, you shouldn't have too much trouble.

There really are not many short cuts when it comes to dealing with heat. Just save your self a lot of sweaty nights, heat stressed plants and find a way to vent the heat out side(wall, attic window box ect) and the hobby is addictive and you will want to upgrade your light and have the vent thing allready taken care of.
