New Hydro System Help

Ok, I figured you did not fertilize the 7 seedlings.

I never used MH before, and I have not used HPS for seedlings (or vegging).

From the looks of your two larger seedlings, where you originally had the lights its good, otherwise they would be stretched and spindly, so for the 7 seedlings you can keep it at the same height and just watch them.

If they keep stretching, lower the light a little. The problem is the seedlings could get bleached by the intense light before heat becomes an issue. I have no experience with MH/HPS for seedlings so I could not tell you a safe height. You will just have to watch the seedlings.

I would also suggest putting the 7 seedlings into sunshine mix, or pro-mix once some roots start peeking out of the rockwool. Keep them as mothers. Hydro mothers is not a good way to go. Plus you said you paid alot for them so keeping moms as opposed to just budding them is a good idea.

A good rule of thumb for when to add nutrients is immediately after the cotyledon leaves have yellowed and fallen off. This is just because they originally were aiding in bringing in nutrients and thus, a supplement wasn't necessary. So yeah just like said above, start light with the nutes and unless the nutrient company specifically targets cannabis growing, don't follow the bottle directions. But honestly, you'll be able to find good ratios on this site!

Cheers,

Hey guys.

Thanks for the advice!

I have attached a few pics of my seedlings that are starting to come along. (I've lost 2 seedlings though, one while germinating and one while in the small rockwool cubes.) The other seedlings roots though started coming through the small rockwool cubes besides one that I have left in the small rockwool cube. I am hoping the roots will start coming through and then I'll move it into the bigger cubes as I have with the other seedlings.

I would really like to know when to start giving them nutrients though?

They have been in the rockwool now for about 6 days after germination. I would also appreciate some advice as how they are looking for the period of time?

I have not started with the NFT watering yet and would like to know when to start the system including nutrients?

I have also attached a pic of the bigger two young plants I transplanted directly into the hydroton pebbles. The plants are slowly starting to grow a bit and the root system is getting much bigger and spreading around the pebbles.

I wanted to know though, I have been giving the two bigger ones nutrients but I am seeing white "steins or salt build up" I really don't know what it is. I would really appreciate some advice on how to go forward?

Thanks so much!

You can give them nutes right away. Start at 1/3 the recommended strength and work your way up from there :) eventually you'll be able to slowly up the dose.

One of the bigger things that will plague you in that system is root rotund salt build ups. You are going to NEED to do a weekly flush on that thing. Also ideally you need to keep your root zone temp t 68 degrees Fahrenheit. This will prevent Algae and root rot. Algae will steal the oxygen out of the water. I also recommend putting a massive air stone in there.

Air temp in day you want 75-79 Fahrenheit. Night time 68-72.

Humidity in early veg up to 70 percent. Preventative spray for pm. Humidity mid veg 50-60 percent. Early flower veg should be 50 percent. End of flower take it down to 40.

Environment control is key. You want to make sure your environment and root one are dialed in before advancing. It I better to have a small dialed grow than a large one. Scaling up is exponentially hard.

I suggest learning flood drain and 5 gallon bucket dwc.
