Comics do not count as reading. Yes a graphic novel is a comic. They called them graphic novels to stop people taking the piss out of adults who still look at them.
I do have some recommendations for you though.... I hear the TV guide is good..... what about menus and leaflets at the doctors about fungal nail infection or misuse of anti-biotics (bonus, they will probably have some pictures)? Ads on the back of bus tickets.... religious tracts don't count, because they are just shit comics at the end of the day.
Have you thought about the Janet and John series?

she was always that way, back in the 60s my folks would be howling in laughter watching her on the Tonight Show, I'd sneak 1/2 way down the stairs to a hidden vantage point where I watched n' learned bawdy humor early on.
the crap she dishes on herself and others for plastic surgery has been a part of her schtick since the 60s, nobody does it better.......
