San Diego Finest Cuts #3

Wow....I cannot tell a dud from a non-dud....

The Blackwater grew strong and fast, with good structure,
and the XXX is swelling better than most do....I may have only
worked with duds...lol...

Well, thank you for taking the time, in any case.

These cuts came from a poster here, one in good standing so no names.

BTW: The Plushberry is from seeds....a dud seed?

:0)

I'd still love to grow out that Adubb...that one has always escaped me...

But IMO - Sour Dubb is just epic smoke. Amazing flavor - and high that just completely disconnects me from my surroundings. Love it.

In this case, I am pretty sure that the Dud is me. :0)

The Triple OG above was vegged by me, was a clone taken from the cut I purchased.

I did not give it the Veg that I would have liked....but I did not know the breed yet,
and must control for the stretch. --> This means that I flowered it short.

i.e. if it is small, then this was my doing.

But, when I tied it down, and every bud along each branch turns up and swells to the
size of a golf ball, then I have to like the genetics.

I am already growing out a Triple that I will let grow out farther.

Take care,

JD

LOL, I should post a photo of the Adub then....it is reeeeeally tiny.

I just want to flower these, clones taken from the grown-out bought cuts,
quickly, to learn their behaviors and needs.

If anyone can post the URL of a thread that discusses their heritage, then this
would be appreciated.

The Blackwater is not small....the tops did not swell to football size,
so this might be another dud(?). :0)

Java, your three plants look fine to me. Though the triple OG looks a bit light on magnesium if anything.

This whole dud phenomenon is now getting to the point that anytime someone has flowering / heat / ph / burn issues, its called a dud and the bunk stoner science is getting a little overwhelming.

As far as we know, dudding is broad mite damage from salivary toxins within the broad mites. If you have plants with broad mites, they will stop growing in either state - veg or flower. Leaf edges curl upward and new shoots become discolored until eventually the whole plant gives up and dies. There are only two ways to get rid of broad mites aka cyclamen mites: grow from seed (yay pollen!) or use pesticides which are labeled for them - preferably only in veg. Other miticides will not work. Neem oil and other general pesticides will not work either.

I mite be ranting, but duds bug me almost as much as bad puns. ;)

Speaking of the wonders of pollen, here's 3 of 5 pregnant "Jackets" (Destroyer x [P91 x Princess Diesel]) nearing completion. Since the plants are all pretty uniform, I figure I'll select the beans from the best smoking 2 or 3 plants for future selection.

Triple OG, Blackwater.. Def some Shan Diego duds lol. Can't begrudge the guy too much, ignorance must be pretty blissful when it alone is paying the rent.

I knew what I was getting into buying his cuts, didn't bother to try and get them healthy.. Just vegged em up and had these 7 Tres Dawg ix males bang the shit out of em. A friend just finished the first Triple OG x Tres female, it's his 3rd grow ever and his room is light leaked but it didn't herm, came out dense with constant 85f+ day temps and with hints of purple throughout.. Got me baked as fuck too so these are definitely the next beans I'm popping looking for a purple OG gal to crop the shit out of.

Neither the black water or xxx are nearly as frosty as they should be, I should have been more specific in my first post. I'm sure you can agree that the plushberry is the frostiest of the bunch, it has developed trichomes that are normal for how far along it looks, the others not so much. Small dark fan leaves with short petioles(leaf stems), specifically on the tripple and lack of normally developed frost are enough for me to clearly see theyre dudds. for the record I've gotten dudds from some very respected long term members here...shit happens to all of us, and NO ONE is immune from dudds. I hope this can be taken as constructive criticism, my intentions were to inform not to bash.

JD, the plushberry doesn't look very dudded. You can see the difference between the plushberry and the rest, right?

The BW, XXX and adub all have small leaves, look unhealthy, minimal frost... they just keep growing more pistils. I assume you've had branches snap and smell isn't very strong.
The XXX might seem like it's swelling but give it a squeeze and you'll see it's just airy swelling not like when you squeeze the plushberry.

Vs. your plushberry... it actually has frost!

I appreciate the time folks.

I am ignorant.....not an uncommon trait.

I do have a few grows under my belt.

I am sure that I will work it out. One thing that I have done is invest
in a slew of beans and breeds. I know when I like a smoke.

I did make my first beans recently (Jacks CLeaner 2 X JTR) and may have to use
the technique above.

I will lurk.

JD

That xxx is a dud. Look how small the fan leaves are. Apart from the deficiency you can see the largest leaves loosing all their green.

Lots of gardens destroyed from these. Hell they pretty much killed this whole thread.

Indeed. My gut says to ask about temps and feeding, they look hot and hungry to me. I'm flowering out those triples almost constantly now, and they continue to turn out awesome crop after crop, and I'm keeping it as simple as possible with fox farms, water, and sunlight.

Dude, "Hot and hungry "are not unlikely...I do not control temps, tho I do use
night for day.
(and until I can really deal with run-off better, I will get hungry too, on occasion)

The Triples are crazy fat....I am lost there. I just flowered it tiny because I did
not know what stretch to expect. It is going to yield well for a plant the size
and shape of a catcher's mitt. :0)

I will just work on it.

Thanks for chiming in!

Like somebody mentioned above,, they don't look dudded to me at all,, maybe a ph imbalance or something locking out mag,, nothing that cannot be corrected in the next round..

all I can really say is do the research for yourselves, I posted a link with all of the collective info on dudd's. for anyone that chooses to ignore/write off/disregard the fact that they are real, I really hope that you don't have to ever deal with a dudd..it's a battle you more than likely will not win, especially by believing that it's an easily correctable issue. If you trade cuts/buy cuts chances are you will eventually come into contact with a true dudd. Ignorance is bliss and all I can do is lead a horse to water.

knowledge is power
adapt or perish

I liked the pollen solution suggested above....

I will keep these cuts to myself until they are proven, in any case.

I will happily carry on, but I do appreciate your taking the time.

Duds are real IMO...but check out my outdo!

Duds are real IMO...but check out my outdo!

Hey everyone...Been a month flowering outdoors and things are looking decent!

My opinion on the dud is that they are real, I grew indoor perfectly for years and then my clones from the same source started to show almost no resin, and died/burned up quickly. Now I won't bash ANYONE, because there is no one person to blame. I still continue to get cuts from the same source today, and you can see from the shots that these ladies are doing quite well!!!

One thing to note about this situation is that I have stopped growing since I encountered duds and it's been a couple years since I've grown at all. As far as I can tell these cuts are doing fine but another note is that they are outdoor. I wonder if this has any effect, or my source no longer has duds. You take what you want from that. On to my plants!

First up I think this is SSH, this plant was attacked by a large red grasshopper that unfortunately showed up when I was checking out my girl one day...no more grasshopper. Dense buds, the most dense out of my 4 outdoor ladies. Smells diesely.

Then we have Super Lemon Haze. All these plants went outdoors on 7-10 but this lady is the furthest behind...makes sense for a haze though right? She has definitely stopped stretching as in full flower mode now though. Looks to be about 2 weeks in. Can you spot the caterpillar eggs on the closeup budshot? Two yellow of em! Fuckers....Monterrey Garden spray right? It's been a while but I think I remember that one working and it's ok to use in flower?

continued...
