How far do you keep plasma above medium when you are trying to pop your seeds and until they get some leaf sets?

I am running a 5x5 tent with 2 lep for veg. Is this overkill or a nice setup? I understand for seedlings lep will do the whole tent.

When things get to taking off how would you run lep's in veg? Shoot for m2 footprint height and run em slightly towards the outside?

I've used mine to pop seeds a couple times now. I don't like them for this purpose. If you have them too high, the plants stretch too much and you need to prop them up. Seems like anything over about 24 inches will cause this. But if you keep them too low, they have a small coverage area, and anything not directly under them will lean way over sideways.

What I do now. I use the small airpots. I start 36 seeds.
6 by 6 under my 400mh. First 9-10 days. Then move the best looking 32 under my pair of plasmas. I put 8 in 4 nursery flats.
So my 2 plasmas are basically covering about a 4ft by 2ft. I keep them about 12 inches over the canopy. Things work really well like this. I usually top them (Uncle Bens method) around day 21. Let them go a few more days. Then transplant and move to my setup with 3 gavita HPS with the plasmas in between. Veg like this until flip. Another 2 weeks give or take.

I don't think they could cover 5 by 5. I know most sites selling them basically say you can cover 4 by 4 with one plasma! It works out to like 200 mmol/m2. Not that intense.

But yeah. If I was using a 5 by 5 tent. I would try to get the lights to cover a 5 by 2 patch, or 5 by 3 patch.

Hey man you have been most helpful. What do you think about putting a 1000w mh and lep on each side for veg? Have you vegged under an lep by itself at 10-12 inches?

How many seeds are you going to start at once, and it was size containers?

IM only going to do 20 seeds or there about. Curious what you think about using lep as supplement in veg to mh also. I will use the small air pots to pop seeds. As far as heat from above what would be good way to do this? Hence your 400 hid? What hoods are you using with your 600s?
