Washington just says no to marijuana party buses

OLYMPIA, Wash. — There goes the marijuana party bus idea.

Washington state regulators have told charter and tour bus operators that marijuana use by passengers is prohibited.

A notice issued Thursday by the state Utilities and Transportation Commission cited the health and safety of drivers who would be exposed to smoke. It also said the buses and passengers are considered to be in view of the public, where marijuana consumption is prohibited.

Some people had dreamed that recreational marijuana could be enjoyed on party buses.

it's a shame as you could make the driver compartment separate from the passenger compartment as well as tinting the windows so no one can see in and both problems are sorted.

Exactly what I thought gaiusmarius! Why create more damn laws on the books when there are obvious solutions to the problem. Would said "party buses" not generate more tax revenue??! WTF Peace~ DJSF

I don't see the appeal of a party bus. A party BOAT on the other hand would be cool especially if was a glass-bottom boat. Not sure what the reef life is like in Washington tho. Where I lived they would have booze cruises (regular pontoon, no glass-bottom) that went up and down the coast. Was cool at night.

Now how about stoner movie theaters? I couldn't tell you how many times i've smoked before a movie. Sometimes it lasted the whole movie, but most of the time I wished I could have smoked during. (never risked it but have witnessed random people... well my nose did).

How could smoke irritate a driver NEARLY as much as the drunkards on them already…

Shit, I'd NEED a smoke to drive one of those…. Especially filled with kids.

What I really want is to just be able to travel freely with my stash.
Can't fly, no cruise ships, just driving.
They find it, take it, then fine the hell outta you.
Just because it get's me bombed, don't make it explosive.

Bummer with the bus restrictions, but I can get plenty messed up without a party bus.

I wanna travel without having to drive once in a while.
Just like a regular citizen.
Hopefully cannabis legalization will change this.
Finger crossed.

A cruise ship would be fun. Not only all the cool stuff they have on the ship, but going to different destinations.

A cruise ship that produced its own cannabis, I wonder if it would be subjected to the laws of the countries it visited? Definitely no smoking off-ship, but if it was a cannabis cruise I wonder if the country would target and arrest people for intoxication,or having it in their system.

I am pretty sure Dubai would execute you on the spot for having it in your system (mostly sarcastic, but I believe its possible)

what about the bikini baristas?? they tinted the windows to get past the laws. there is strict ordinances about smoking in western Washington where you can't smoke within 25 ft of a public entrance, bus stop, drive thru windows, etc. so i can see the smoking aspect being hard to get past but they do allow vaping indoors so concentrates would be okay technically. the laws here also won't allow for beer delivery services but pot delivery is okay. the state is really confused in how to regulate shit.
