I'm pretty sure the first picture isn't done because at the time of this picture it had only been in the oven for about 12 hours.


But these two have been in the oven for roughly 24 hours at the time of the pic.



Do any of these look done to you experienced BHO makers?

from what i can see it looks done to me. but, give it a touch to see if its stable, maybe peel back a small part to see how stable it is. and see if its at the consistency you want... sap or shatter.

well it's kind of sap...fruit rollup like. I'm pretty sure it's purged fully, but i'm wondering if baking it longer would make it harder or if this would be the final consistency..

There is really no way for us to tell for certain unfortunately. I have seen oil which looks like that and is completely done, and identical oil which is far from completion.

Have you tried it yet?

Adding more heat will also speed up the decarboxylation process, resulting in a less stable consistency.

Yeah, sorry, I just meant as far as purging. I realize youguys can't see it up close and personal so I know it's hard to say yes or no.

I'm just having a hell of a time trying to get a hard product, but I don't fully understand what makes it hard other than THCA, and if you get too hot THCA converts to THC and is no longer hard.

We've been purging around 115F as per GW's suggestion in another thread.

Perhaps for this particular material the temp should be lower, I've noticed that during the initial purge the giant muffins have been collapsing fairly soon.

A video by Bret Maverick mentions that the muffin should collapse on it's own within about 2 hours. Sooner than that might be too hot etc.

I guess I'll have to watch that video again more closely.

I got rock hard shatter everytime doing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SHxMD2D0K4 just on a very small personal level, with everclear quickwashing only. Leaving out the butane entirely.
