How much area can a 1000w gavita cover. I'm trying to plan out a room for an 8x8 sog perpetual harvest (4x4 every two weeks) and I'm trying to figure out my lighting scheme. I really like these gavita lamps from what I'm reading.

I asked this in another thread and would like to revisit the answer given by @whazzup.

He says the Gavita pro DE ballast cannot run on 208v, yet I just read this study where they were comparison tested at that input voltage along with the ePap DE: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showpost.php?p=6335507&postcount=239

@DGS from ePap tells me theirs are 208v compatible. The literature for both Gavita and LIA gives a spec of 220-240v for these fixtures. Can anyone educate me please?

Gavita 1k's cover a 4x6 pretty well, lots of folks do 3 over a 4x16 area(2-4x8 trays end to end)instead of 4 standard 1k's,thereby eliminating one fixture. The more gavitas the better to achieve proper cross lighting, this is when they really begin to shine.

Gavitas run on 220-240v fine, the boost to 400v happens in the ballast itself, this is in USA,im not familiar with voltage they run in other countries.

mine covers a 5x5 area 1000 watt= this round was about 2' of top of canopy. last one about 18'' , no problems at 1000 watts.:tiphat:

Basically cover 6x4.

8x8 seems to be awkward to cover uniformly.
But I'd say 4 lamps. But 1000watt would be too much. 600-750 would be better. Throw a plasma in the middle too.

But if you can reconfigure your set up to 4x16 you could get away with 3 at 1000 nicely.

My room isn't built yet but I have a huge area to build within so I can configure it as I need. 6x4' is cool cause I could just have it 12x8. What I want to do is have 4 tables on casters to be able to get to what ever side I need to, but once I'm done I can push them all neatly under their lights and rotate if needed.

Hey guys, I got 20 amp dedicated circuits running to my room. My outlets are all GFCI 120v as standard in he U.S.

Is is safe to change out the outlets?

I found these:
Leviton 5842-I 20 Amp, 125/250 Volt, Narrow Body Duplex Receptacle, Straight Blade, Commercial Grade, Self Grounding, Dual Voltage, Ivory

Will this work? Will the Gavita power cord prong work with this outlet?

Thanks!

No, you cannot replace your 120v outlets with that outlet. That outlet is a 240v outlet that steps it down to 120v similar to a clothes dryer. Not the other way around.

I need to swap out my single pole breakers for 2 pole breakers. My wiring is up to code. I will also need to change all outlets to commercial grade. Should be a simple fix.

Hey whazzup, I was wondering if you knew what was going on with the website... It seems to be down at the moment. I wanted to get an opinion on lighting a new space and have seen you mention numerous times to contact them through the site. I didn't want to bother you with my particular variation of a question you've been asked repeatedly already! Thanks for all you do here!

You should check the 750 gavita they do, you can plug straight into 120 outlet. Also no need for 12 ft ceilings as max 750w and the sick new controller can handle 80 ballasts!!

The 1000e DE also runs on 120.... I was going to get a 750, went with the1000, coming from 600's, this thing is bright! I have been testing how close I can get it to plants, so far 24" from the bulb to tops on 1000 has not been any problem, this is with minimal canopy airflow! I will try to keep updating, but so far, I love this light, so do the ladies, planning on 2 more.

The Gavita site is back up again, and let me just say that their customer service is amazing! Very high quality attention and guidance without question. I'm sold on the 750's (for height reasons) with LEP 270e's for sure!

Will the Gavia Pro remote ballast run any bulb other than those double end bulbs?
will it run a Hortilux Estart 1ooo Metal halide lamp?

Hello hope Wazzup can chime in, along with other people who use gavita. I am currently in a 5x5 tent. I want to use the 750 or 600e and 2 plasmas. What would be proper spacing and what size canopy should I shoot for? I don't have to use whole 5x5 if it's not advisable. My tent is 6'11" or 7'11" depending how I set it up. Have no problem scrogging it out.

What's going on my fellow growers. Just had a quick question about which gavita to get. I'm currently looking at the Gavita Pro E series 1000w. I have a 7Hx10wx10L grow tent tent being setup right now I plan on putting 1k in there already. My only concern is as I have been doing some reading and low ceilings don't seem to be Ideal for these type of lights. So the question would I be alright if I just dimmed them down a lot. I do plan on moving to a bigger space soon within the 6 months so I do feel it's worth the investment. Thank you.

No I wouldn't even think about that reflector in that small space. I have similar height and I am tempting the idea of the 750e. I am more and more thinking of the 600e. The 750e is an awesome light but would get the 600e. As I am deciding. ROI is plenty on 600e. Then get other lights. I am sitting on 2 classic 600w gavita w/ no 240. Also a powerbox. 1200 not being used. Never turned 600w on. IM in same boat.
I've also got much overkill equipment for a tent. But it's because like you IM planning on a room. I will have a 600e next month for my tent. Already got 2 plasmas that I used for veg and the 2 600 classics. If I had waited got what I needed I may have all 600e fixtures and e plasma units. Perfect for 5x9 or 4x8 tent.

Sunlight Supply SUCKS!!! I called to get support from them to hang my new Gavita's and was told that I would have to go back to the store I bought them from and have them submit a request for a lighting plan and then wait for THEM to get back to me. What a crock of SH**!! Surely did not make me wait a week to give them a SH**POT full of $$ for the fixtures. Can not even describe how pissed I am that I have a stack of new lights and can not hang them. About to lose my mind. It's Friday and my customer wants his lights hung NOW, not in a week or two when/if they decide to get back to me.
If anyone can help, the rooms are 5.9m x 3.55m being lit with 8 pro 1000 e-series complete fixtures. Thanks guys, sorry for the rant.
