CHP stumbles into marijuana farm after car crashes into building

HUNTINGTON PARK (AP) — Authorities chasing a driver in a Los Angeles suburb got a surprise when his car crashed into a building that turned out to contain a marijuana farm.
The Los Angeles Times says California Highway Patrol officers tried to pull over a man who’d been speeding and driving erratically around 1 a.m. Friday in Huntington Park.
The Volkswagen Jetta hit a median, went airborne and crashed into a 10,000-square-foot commercial building.
CHP Officer Robert Meyer says while firefighters were freeing the driver from the car, CHP officers went into the building, where they found 700 to 800 marijuana plants.
The driver was taken to a hospital with major injuries and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and recklessly evading police.
The pot growers haven’t been found.

isn't this like unlawful search and seizure? the cops didn't have a warrant or a reason to be there. just dumb luck. they should just walk away, go get a court order, then raid the warehouse. ijs.

Here is the damage from the crash. They predict driver was going 70-80 mph before he went airborne.

My friend lives in S bay and mentioned this to me briefly in a conversation. Watched a news story and they interviewed the neighbor, she was unaware of any activity in the warehouse but did mention that she would notice a gas smell.

Pretty bad luck for the grower how one investigation created a separate investigation. Goes to show to expect the unexpected. I wonder if steel metal bollards would have prevented damage?

If only that piss soaked couch was 10 ft to the right maybe it would of taken some of the impact and not go through the wall.
Just goes to show one mans trash could be another's savior.
