A legal commercial grow?

For the Denver area I'd say 500k to a million, a good weed savy lawyer, and a full year to setup the facility and fine tune to operation. I speak from experience helping coordinate two people in the new Aurora market.

If you are looking for a more hobby/personal grow in a basement. You can wall off a 4,000 watt room and do all the work for 8k or less. Depending on your thriftiness and access to used hoods, fans, etc . .

Also think of the time you will need for it. An hour a day to maintain it( on a 4,000 watt grow), with bursts of furious activity around harvest and transplanting. It will eat up a lot of time and get in the way of any vacations unless you have trusted helpers.

It is always possible to do, but I would define why you are doing this first. Do you want cash in piles, or a garden to tend and share the bounty of?

Find a system that Works perfectly for 4k watts. Have it dialed in perfect for a few runs. Only expand to 20+lights when you can do 4 perfect. When you move up realize it's all the same. Just more organization. If you are just doing this for money you won't have the passion to do it right on a big scale and last. Start a few notebooks and plan.

Ty both, yes it will be legal, I have property in CO me and the wife are going to retire to. just several things to do before then. I have a year or so still but would like to have everything available and ready to go when the home is finished being built there. I guess I can't say its commercial per se, I have no need to ever "sell" anything, mostly its gonna be for giving away to guests and myself, but I've got a horrible habit and all :)

Okay so you want to upgrade to how many lights in the end? If it is something for you to smoke endlessly and provide for friends I would say 4-8 lights max. 4 probably is all you need. Look into organic Soil if that interests you. Hydro is too temperamental for me. Maybe look into a basement grow, use big organic beds. Run 5 plants around 4 1k lights barebulb. All just ideas. If you want to go bigger maybe check out Father Earth's thread on the organic forums.

Thx Stayfoolish! I like the barebulb idea, I still have some time, I can set a test grow with one and see if its for me. 5k will probably be my max. Im not a fan of the Hydro really, i do like my dirt...will have to check that thread out...Appreciate the info!

just something to throw in when you guys talk down on hydro :)

soil = for the taste
hydro= for the yield
dwc= for them both

i will say the hydro is mostly for the big scale. dwc is so easy to maintain in big scale, and it dont make a big mess when you are done harvesting. if you grow soil inside it makes a big mess no mater how much work you do. and you said that you are building a new home, why not make it as clean as it can be growing : if you can dwc is the cleanest set up

organization and pest control are key in any good garden :tiphat:

This why I don't mind daddy long legs and other spiders around....I throw lady bugs in the grow tent from time to time...I have never seen any mites or aphids knock on wood..could just be dumb luck too:biggrin:

commercial for some folks is hobby-level for others.

if you want to join the big leagues without going guerilla, and you are in a legal area, then the best way is multiple large steel greenhouses going year-round with slightly staggered harvest times, with environmental controls and supplemental lighting. Whatever exact method you use to grow the plants is of minor importance from a financial standpoint, what is important is cost-effectiveness and of course it's important that you grow good cannabis not just something to fill the jars at the local weed shop.
