I'd like to see you use CocoGro Plugs:
http://www.botanicare.com/Cocogro-Cloning-Plugs-P200C4.aspx

Last night I put 16 cuttings in Cocogro Plugs. I know I can get over 90% in straight Perlite, or charged Coco in 9 oz cups, so fingers crossed. I hope this works because it's SO EASY. Cost/convenience irrelevent. No muss, no mofun fuss. Will update. -granger

G , do you have a thread with this pictured & detailed ??? i'd like to see it & watch it cuz they have me interested too . been having problems with getting clones to root & live recently ,after getting 100% in 9 oz clear cups of canna coco for the last 2 years . i've tried a million different ways , including some coco pucks i got from some garden shop & nothing is as good as i was doing with the cups .

Damn clones:biggrin: I've pretty much used every method and thing on the market with varying success. Most work great for awhile and then wham, bust. I started doing them in cups of coco, rapid rooters and bubble cloners all at the same time to insure I would get enough clones with roots. Finally said screw it and went with the one method I hadn't tried- a homemade aero cloner. That thing is sooo sweet! Even the hard to root strains are a breeze. Cost me $45 to make it as I already had a coleman cooler. Hands down the best DIY project for growing:

The last time I ran this strain it was maybe my 3rd or 4th grow. I threw 6 clones into 1x1 rockwool cubes with 100% success. It was my very first attempt at cloning so I really don't think this strain should have much trouble rooting. She'd probably take in anything I throw her in but have been doing solo cups with pure coco the last few times I've cloned mostly because it's easy and I'm lazy.

The CocoGro plugs are a kind of new product. I've heard very little actual feedback on them so it'll be good to get a first hand experience there. I do have experience with Root Riots and Rapid Rooters and they work well enough. I have high expectations for the CocoGro plugs.

As far as rooting gels and solutions go, I have access to about anything and everything but on the shelf now is Clonex, Dyna-Gro Root-Gel and KLN, MadFarmer, Supernatural, and some Olivias.

I'll probably do 6-8 cuts of one rooting enhancer, and another 6-8 cuts with just water and TLC as a comparison. Does anyone have any input on what they'd like to see me use? Clonex has been done, let's try something new.

Dansbuds,
I don't have a thread. I just bought them and this is the 4th day. Early yet. I made the mistake of not pulling the plugs out of the tray when I put the cuts in. One of the 16, I pushed all the way thru and it came out the side. Probably won't make it. We'll see about the others [3 strains]. Used 15 second [at least] dip in Dip 'n Grow. Using the same tray, dome, heater/thermostat that I've had success in with other media. One 2' t-5 tube with 1 layer of paper towel on top of dome. Temp 80˚, humidity 90%+, low light. So easy if it works. I'll report. -granger

Ive been using a blue powder rooting hormone that is the strongest on the market that I have seen and has helped me cut 3 week rooters into 9 and 10 day rooters..il plug in name when I can remember it. Something like ROOT BLAST .

It might be the Supernatural RootBurst. I have a sample of that as well. It's a blue powder.

Looks like the shitz. It's made with IBA. Supposedly all the American manufacturers quit using IBA because it's so expensive. Companies like Clonex and Olivias went cheap and deleted it but IBA is the best ingredient in cloning mixtures. MBferts also uses IBA in their cloning solution. 4-indole-3-butyric acid, have you tried your sample Crash?

Thats the one and I deff reccomend it. My olivias was giving me trouble... switched to root burst and got back on track instantly.

Not yet myself, but a coworker of mine is all about the stuff. He uses a combination of it and Roots Excelurator. At first I guess he was still dipping into some gel because he was afraid the powder wouldn't stick all that well. He said that was a mess and that it doesn't need that much on the stem, just to get it wet and dab it in the powder.

I've had good luck with Dip 'n Grow. It has both hormones, and it's cheap, being a concentrate. Good luck. -granger

dip & grow is what i've been using also . it seems like every time i soak the RR's in KLN , its takes for ever for the clones to root , i stopped using it & have had better luck with just RO to soak the plugs :dunno:

I get great results with an overnight plain water soak before
the IBA powder. Then straight to the coco.

I usually do 1/2 gallon ro h20 plus 5 drops liquid karma and 1 drop super thrive. I picked up cloneing easily for some reason. Rapid rooters and let fresh air in once a day til they root. Always spray dome ..I never spray the plants. Make sure rapid rooters are moist like a spunge but not wet. When u squeeze it no h20 should drip out...but also dont let em dry out. (Usually resoak every 4 days) Works for me.
Peace

Yes with rapid rooters I get roots 6-7 days. I use clonex gel but I bet I'd get the same results with or with out the cloning gel.

Snowcrash- how are those new jardin tents? I bought a 5x5 a couple weeks ago and setting it up 3 corners ripped at the seam. My old tent has been through hell and back and not one tear. This tells me secret jarden are cutting cost which means lower quality.

I'm really surprised about that. My DR90 went up without any trouble. If anything, the fabric was a little loose around the frame. Definitely no rips or tears with the setup. Did you follow the book or just wing it, manstyle? Returns with Secret Jardins are aren't as easy as it is with GrowLabs, Sun Huts, or HydroHuts because of the offshore manufacturing and distribution network.

One of my zippers has kind of crapped out on me on my tent after about 2 years of daily unzippings. I might be able to get it back on "track" but it hasn't been an issue that has bothered me yet (there's 2 zippers after all) so I haven't really addressed it. Instead of unzipping from the top, I unzip from the base, but it isn't "perfect."

There's an area of the front of the tent where the tray I have kind of rubs against the sliding door in front of it, with the fabric between them. Where the friction is, has torn a hole, but it was by my own doing. I used a can of that spray on rubber stuff and it worked like a charm repairing the exterior. Solid, air tight, and even though it smells like hell I didn't see any off-gassing issues.

If I was going for a more professional setup I'd be looking at Gorilla Tents and nothing else. But for a home/closet small-scale grow I think these tents do their jobs much better than the chinese knock offs I find on Ebay. I am not unhappy with my tent but I think I could be happier. To be honest, I was considering getting a grow lab but the dimensions of my grow space require a shorter tent than they make, and this new tent of theirs just fits perfectly for what I need. So, it isn't (and has never) been my brand preference as much as it is my only viable option.

Yeah I was going to get a gorilla tent but for $1200 for a 8x8 is pricy considering it cost me $300 to build a room. I emailed secret jardin so we will see. It tore like butter no joke, it was already up and I hear a rip as I zipped the the bottom lol. Glad you have good luck, the seam was probably not stitched good at the factory. Sorry to clutter your thread, I'll sit back and watch now.:tiphat:
