vert fail

G`day non

You are not getting the full benefit of your lamp ATM .
Having your plants below the lamp is robbing you of a high percentage of you light .

Check out the difference in light emitted from the sides of your lamp compared to under it . Even with the naked eye the difference is substantial .

Getting the socket of your lamp holder in line with the tops of your plants will make a big difference .
Contrary to the diagrams in the vert forum the spread of light from a vert hung bulb is not the symmetrical sphere of light they portray .

Thanks for sharin

EB .

He's right. Put some mylar in your homebox seconds and turn it into one big ass reflector, then see what's up.

i don't like mylar as material, i think it's more of a canopy management issue in this style. i admit this one wasn't particularly magnificient but hope the next one is better :)

yield was shit: 42 grams, that's like 0,3gpw or something?, i've done much better with 150w in the past, horizontal or vertical. but no crisp at all this time, so i got that going for me. another excuse is that this type of flimsy little yielding plant is a challenge too. oh well, hope the next one is better. but until then, bye :) i'll start new thread when there is something going on.

"secret edit" because nobody'r reading this :

preparing for a new project, still in seedling stages, upadates when something happens and i'll edit first post then for a quick jump. reg seeds so no idea about m/f-ratio but i hope to them to tell it in veg long enough.

one thing i've been wondering about the last project was the quite sudden monent of things going shitty. at the same time there was a illumination change from 50w led to 150w hid, totally different spectre and intensity. i wonder, i wonder..i'll keep that in mind too. could be combination of things. ambient temps and so are fine so it's light or the medium, or both. i try to do better this time and also will run 250 watter since my cab can take it even in summer(nights).

flipped them to 12/12 yesterday. i will bend the big ones sideways to fill the hole in the canopy to some extent, next one will be from clones so no holes, but until then we go with this :D couple yellow leaves too, but that is taken care of.

Sweet man, cool pics.

I might actually end using the bulb as you have without a reflector, due to space and general limitations in the grow space. Starting with CFL's and finishing with a bare HPS.

Thanks for sharing the pics, all the best.

Bless. Peace

and we're at 35 days of 12/12 according to my calendar. fuzzy pic and some fucked leaves but nothing too bad. they look kinda big but i doubt that the final gpw will not be magnificient. i'll probably take them between 60-70 days, we'll see. cuts are rooting fine.

My cab is even smaller than yours man. I forget exactly, I've been using the same one for 8 years. But I think it is only 33" tall. I just cobbled crap together stuff and put in some Mylar and flat white and drilled holes for vents and fans. Pretty ghetto. I started with CFLs and that bathroom vanity light bar I started with is still in there.

Anyway, I like to veg now with my 90W UFO and flower with a 150W HPS. Similar to you. I have another LED, a bit stronger than that 90W, supposed to be 240W but when tested with a Kill-A-Watt it's only drawing like 135W from the wall. Whatever. The 3 babes in there now are only a month along in veg and still in Solo cups. I might put that bigger LED in after I transplant. I got a 180W UFO once but it just bleached the shit out of everything so I never use it now.

But what I wanted to say is, I have tried vert in my little cab, a couple runs, but I have found Scrog for me does better. I do some LST and Scrog and that combo seems to do best.

I too reuse and amend with a bunch of crap. I started with Ocean Forest and now amend with EWC, blood meal, bone meal, kelp and even put some sphagnum moss in at one point and some coco coir once too. And put in a mess of rice hulls this run to lighten things up a little and then I hit them with black strap molasses mixed in with RO starting every watering after I transplant. It's kind of a weird mix and method, but it works.

My yields are relatively low, around that 42G like you got I think. But I never weigh it, I don't have a big scale and don't care really. I'm going for quality, not quantity. I usually get some dank, one hit shit. I think I get lower numbers because I grow just 100% organic and don't like to use any chems. But I'm really not too sure about weights. I think that GPW thing is kinda hard to calculate when you are switching light strengths too.

Anyway, I been lurking in your thread and just wanted to pop in and say yo. Our grows are similar. Best of luck dude...Man I got blabbing here, didn't I?

hi dddaver thanks for babbling :)

horizontal training is one the best methods for a small personal projects for sure. im sure i'll do one myself in the future.

as for recycling i've been doing no till lately, last project was the 4th cycle, this is 5th. finetuning needed, but you can get decent plants. for awhile i went too low with nutrients and they didn't grow so well, but recent project is pretty green at almost 6 weeks of flowerng and size of flowers is acceptable so the nutrient level is better. used to used biocanna vega+flores but now i use only biobizz grow 4-3-6. on the side seaweed extract and humic acid mostly, they have seen a bit of ewc and wild comfrey but mostly from the bottle. true real organic living legend soil-type of method is interesting too but maybe a bit too advanced for me yet, but so is vert too :D.

i am not master grower but getting better, hopefully. or maybe people think that dude is delusional :D

i'l do the weekly pic update tomorrow.

topcorn of 2 different phenos. 4/5 resemble more the structure of the left one, right one is bit more open/airy. anyway all of them look to be decent yielders. maybe went a bit heavy with the bottle at some point or the clawing is just vertical light. i'll step down with nutes anyway, they're quite green.

s

edit: more phenos, from back of the tent, in reality they're frosty just fuzzy pics. raised the lamp a bit too since they're kinda top heavy.
