Amazing number of wild fires going in northern California. We've got big ones going damn near all the way around us in about a 100-150 mile radius. Two of the major highways are closed and they are getting ready to evacuate a couple of towns. It's only August 2nd and there is supposed to be more lightning tonight.

Hold onto your asses.

I hadn't heard that there were fires that far to the west. That makes it pretty much the full width of the state.

Got a big fire 30 miles from me in the 209. Not a good thing with all the smoke in the air this early.

Lightning toasted laytonville. Been so damn dry even on the coast. We need water desalination plants start or the world is going to be Wall-E status

That's sad to hear. California has enough trouble with it's money issues and certainly doesn't need more fires to put out. Best wishes to you all.

Just try to keep from making the paint match that engine out of Redding!

Stay safe.

is there a strong odor of marijuana?????? good luck guys

That's funny, I was considering the possibility of Babba not passing a UA and thought that smoke inhalation might be a good reason to give.

Eiler, Bald and Day fires either close to or are 100% contained.

Good thing, too. Looked like Burney might have burned to the ground without the wind shift and the rain we got. Not to mention the hard work of the fire crews out there. That's some damn rough country to work in. Same thing happened back in '93(?) with the Fountain fire. Fire got almost to the mill just outside of town. Had a few folks a bit worried.....

@Babba - you working the Coffee fire?

Still got a ways to go in the season tho with still more dry lightning predicted. Damn but I hate those red flag warnings. Hope everyone stays safe and no more fires.....
