Black boxing plants ar 44deg.

So I live in the mtns in the northern part of the US, about an hour from canada. I have two largish plants 7' by 7' that I was thinking of black boxing from 6pm til 10pm every day until Im getting 12 hrs of natural darkness try and jumpstart flower...
I read that in my area it doesnt get 12hrs of darkness until sept 211st.. and that only leaves me a month or so til first snow usually falls.
Ive built the frames, with strapping and black poly.
Btw one of the plants seems to be preflowering already...
Anyone have any experience with trying this?

Yeah, a lot of hybrids will start flowering with only 10 hours of dark. I put out some plants in early June and had bud formation by the summer solstice. But I am considerably further south. Still, I had about 10 hours dark....

Your plants should already be flowering. I live at that latitude on the east coast and mine are in full stretch mode. Some strains even have bud-set already. You don't see any hairs on growth tips of the plant? If they are strong sativa influence hybrids or full on sativa the black box can be very helpful with making them finish before snow comes. 10hrs of daylight and 14 hrs of dark will shave a week maybe more from the finish time.....

Thanks for the replies... One of the strains Sweet Island Skunk is @ what it looks like inside @ 10-14 days in 12/12.
The other is a strain ive never run before, but it looks heavy indica (squat n big broad leaf) and that hasnt started really showing much sign of flowering at all. I started black bowing them tonight. We will see how it goes....

You need to grow photo-sensitive strains that are bred specifically for your latitude.. There is access to outdoor genetics that will finish anywhere from sept 1st and up at 44n. Check out RCMC collective based out of Ontario Canada. Than there's no worrying about black boxing plants.
