showed these leaves to Darth fader which I thought were thrip infected= silver spots etc, have sprayed with spinosad and have pyrethiun spray. after reading this interesting thread I'm not sure as I cant see any noticeable yellow bugs standing out, but have found with scope 60x100 what look like some small red and grey spider mite? just reading up on spinosad and said it kills spider mite, had it on last crop and still got a good crop. plants are 4to 5 ' high.photo about 4 days old.

Hey Noyd has your bud growth been really slow compared to usual and have your plants been taking less and less water instead of more and more? This is what has happened to me as the thrips took hold. Thrips aren't just yellow they are white as well. I could see mine clearly on the leaves.

I also read in some journal on the net that thrips are attracted to higher levels of nitogen, which, is a bit of a coincidence seeing as i increased my worm castings by a good couple of % for this mix im having problems with.

At second glance at your leaf im not sure now. Ive never had the pleasure of spider mites before so i don't know. Have you got webbing? Im sure someone else can tell you

DarthFader1- I started using Spinosad and NAPA floor dry at the same time, so I can't say for sure which is more effective.

I mix Captain Jack's Deadbug [Spinosad from Home Depot @ $9.99/qt] with water @ 1 shotglass/gal. This is used every time I water in veg. My container/plant size ratio is such that my plants need water approximately every 3-4 days.

To the OP- Sorry for the threadjack. For some time, I've thought that we growers should be more proactive with bug control. By the time we notice damage, its too late. We're playing catch-up.

Have a nice day. bg

@darthfader My buds seem smaller on this run, about 75% the size of my last run, and my lady barely drinks much of anything. 64oz every 3-4 days. Could be coincidence

^^ Well that's good news mate, your run will be just fine then im sure. One last thing worth mentioning would be to check the top of your soil on a few of your plants to see if you have little baby critters in there. My soil is infested also. Give your eyes a minute to adjust as they are quite small but if you have them you will see them.. give it a good minute of staring time lol

You should make sure there thrips and not mites. A small infestation of mites can look just like thrip damage. Get some of the Blue thrip sticky paper for the adult flyers. There not hard to eradicate

Hey guys, check the thrips sticky for the answer. In few words, SPINOSAD FTW both as foliar spray and soil drencher they both work perfectly.

Peace
