Best Orange tasting strain IN SEED FORM

B

Bob Green

Have any of you guys that ran the Satsuma and Blood Orange know how it compares to Chimeras Calizahr?

There is still a bit of C+ from Chimera out there as well.

I have 4 agent orange in flower now, one has no smell. One has a super sweet orange smell, one has a bitter/sour orange rind, and another is a piney jack the ripper pheno. Hopefully I can luck out with some above average potency with the orange ones.

They're all Satsuma pictures done by two different growers. Koolkush, who is a member here, and Green Dot Labs, an ex-member here.

I wondered where Green Dot went.

I notice a strong Lime smell in some recent strains, e.g. Silver Kush and Candyland (Candyland is 1/2 or 1/3 Cookies, supposedly.)

My question - for the folks that taste the Orange - is it like the Lime, except sweeter ?

It seems like there is a spectrum of Lime-ness, where some interesting strains, Sativa and Indica, have the Lime.

Some strains have the citrus smell, with a sweet smell. Not to be reductionist, I wonder if Cali-O would go here.

Then it seems like in some strains, the Lime recedes, and there is more a Sour. TH seeds 'Sage & Sour' strikes me this way - Stinky Dank and a Sour.

Part of the time when I had Sage & Sour in my 'Smoke Line-up', I was having a septic 'issue', and it was smelly. Not to insult Sage & Sour but I did notice a slight resemblance - I sometimes get a REAL Stinky dank out of it. (and fortunately, the septic has been temporarily dealt with.)

I had a chance to grow & smoke a Cali-O in SF in 2006. I remember the citrusy sweetness and a good high.

Vic High (BCGA) combined Cali-O with Blueberry around 2000. He called that 'Orange Crush'. That was a wonderful combination. The 5 seeds popped faster than ANYTHING - all were up and standing at attention 24 hours after dropping them into the little rockwool cube.

More than anything, that Orange Crush high was GREAT. :woohoo:

I still have some F3's (or is it F2's ? Orange Crush x Orange Crush, it was.) A separate subject - 'resurrecting old beans'.

Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions of similar strains ! :tiphat:

Tangerine Kush from Rare Dankness is a great strain to grow if you want a true tangerine terpene profile. The oil from it is mind blowing in both flavor and potency. Maybe i'll upload some pics later if i remember...

As was already said, Catnip seeds. They are mostly crosses with the same agent orange male. Great orange flavor from the male with improved potency from the selected females. Won some awards at an ICM cup. I've only tried the sonic fly cross, incredible orange/tangerine smell and lasting flavor. Wasn't a knock out stone (unless you kept at it), but a great interesting, happy high with no crash. Everyone I shared it with commented on the "amazing high" and the flavor. Really was an improved potency Agent Orange.

From experience, both Agent Orange and Jillybean from 'TGA' have very orange flavoured phenos, probably 50% of the seeds i grew of those were orange dominant in flavour/ smell.

Also, as others mentioned 'Bodhi' has Satsuma and Blood Orange which use the California Orange clone which seems to pass on orange flavour consistently.

There are also other breeders that use the California Orange & Agent Orange in their work to succesfully pass on orange traits, 'Chimera' & 'Catnip' seeds for example.

There is quite a bit of choice.

Good luck.

Despite the haters, Dutch Passion has produced some great strains.
I love their White Widow.

I've grown out DPs non fem calio half a dozen times. I have not grown out their feminized calio version.

We aren't talking about a few specimens in a grow that taste or smell orangish. All females in all my grows tasted and smelled strongly of orange. Think Tang.

The high was medium maybe 6-7 on a ten point scale. The high itself is very nice, an "it's a wonderful day" kind of high.

Agent orange has a nice orange smell, but that's about all it has. I dislike the work of subcool because everything I've seen/grown from him had deceiving bag appeal, great smell and frost, but no actual punch. Smoked a 25g super blunt of plushberry for my bday..... nothin, not even drowsiness. As mentioned earlier by very knowledgable people, bodhis two ae-77 cali o hybrids are you best bet, for flavor AND effect.

I hear that a lot from TGA Genetics. Packs no punch. Maybe ill have to see for myself. But over and over people mention potency

Ace of spades and vortex were meh. Cycled em out but bred them a bit first. They really were just working weed though. Smoke it all day type shit because you wouldn't get stoned.

I was gonna say orange crush but I had no idea who made it or what the ancestry was. Thanks for the tip. Is asking for seeds against the TOU? Cause those f3s sound interesting...

I wouldn't waste the money or risk the rest of my crop. Ace of spades threw hermies on 1/3 tested by sub. That's one out of three plants (yes he only ran three to test it for stability lmfao) and yet it is still released. I'm testing five of my own cross, and I'm not even selling these through a globally recognized seed company, what a joke that guy is.. And then he has the balls to diss dj shorts work? Because blueberry Hermed @3wks? That's grower error everyone knows bb is nute sensitive, doesn't mean shit talk a visionary because you can't grow. Sub, swerve, Barney, arjan, and Franco ALL need to retire and step aside for those who put passion over money, and honesty and humility above all else

I believe asking for seeds or cuts on open forum is against TOU. You could probably get away with asking Santa Claus for seeds, unless he is a member here. It's never worked for me though.

Has anyone here tried the tangerine dream from barneys? From the description it sounds like it could be a winner...but.......

Might have some winner phenos but the breeders a thief and a snitch. I would get rd tangerine kush or DNA tanjie, moonshines is probably better tho

i miss my old tangerine strain, got her from a seed i found in a pound of Tangerine Dream in 2006. First grow thread i posted on icmag was with her. She was more tangerine than any other version i have seen, but i lost her. For a while i was selling trays of clones in the bay area so I'm sure it is still around.

It's no secret that most of the members here are seed collectors.

I wish my old OC F3's were more than birdseed. I have been reading those threads (about sprouting old seeds).

If I could get one good female and one good male from that batch, I would be psyched.
