BML SPYDR 600 Heat v 3 x 3 Tent

When I first received the 600 I did not use an actual tent

Years ago, I built a wood frame for my 8 bulb Quantum Bad Boy (2 x 4) over which I hung either windshield reflectors, and later insulated foam board, but the top above is open

Upon installing the 600, I quickly noticed that the backside of the SPYDR spine was hot

I solved that by positioning a 12" fan up high horizontally, so that ~ half blew across the bars with the other half blowing across the canopy

This grow I decided to put it in its' own tent and grow one Big Mexican female. I found Milliard 3 x 3 for $100 including free shipping; the 4 x 4 is only $125. The tent meets my needs and will order the 4 x 4 (actually 50" x 50")

Accidentally, I ordered a 3 x 3 tent (meant to order 4 x 4), which I just erected yesterday. I will use it for the 265w new comer panel, but in the mean time, I decided to test the 600 in it

1. damn a lot more light, which should add many more grams to harvest
2. it is hot in there

The tent has 3 vent windows at the bottom, which I found to be a waste in my 2 x 4 tent, so I reversed the skin, putting it upside down, which puts the 3 vents at the top

Not enough room inside the 3 x 3 for the fan, so one door flap is open with the fan blowing in and up

Temp is very comfy now

Pic is of Blueberry Cheese Cake, which I harvested

For grins I decided to see if I could revive her
and had her in my 2 x 4 tent under a ~ 70w 3500K ufo for 3 weeks where nothing much happened

Perhaps it takes a lot more led juice to reveg
.

This morning I decided to move her to the new tent under the SPYDR 600. where she will stay until such time
as new seedlings are ready

In the last 6 days new leafs are forming

When I put the tent up the other day I plugged the air pump direct into a different outlet so it would run 24/7

I noticed 2 main stems were dead, but didn't think too much of it as the other 2 stems were making new leafs

However, I checked the water level this morning to find the air pump was not working :wallbash:

Thankfully, some roots were hitting the water, so it has been getting some nutes.

The lack of bubbles saturating the entire root ball could be why the 2 stems died. Hard to say

I had forgotten that that wall plug is controlled by the o/o switch by the door, and shut it off out of habit

Taped it over so I won't unconsciously turn it off when leaving the room

Be interesting to see whether I get a growth spurt now

PetFlora,

do you think that with an inline fan extracting air at top of the tent heat would be much of an issue ?

cant imagine that they would run hotter than 600 or 1000W HID

I don't use in line fans

If it is good for extracting hps heat, it should be good for a SPYDR

This plant was originally grown under 2 small ufos, ~ 120w total (3500 + 5000)

Glad I decided to see how it would respond being re-vegged under the SPYDR 600

To say the least, I am blown away

Strong evidence for vegging under powerful leds

Will be starting new seeds under the 600 soon

Stay tuned

I neglected to state in my OP that the plant did nothing during its' time under the 2 ufos, though I have grown nice seedlings using that combo.

Perhaps it takes a lot more led juice to reveg

So fun to watch the reveg! I've always had such bad luck with it. Usually when I'm in the middle of trying it something bad happens like an AC failure!
