I love the hottest peppers!

thanks mikell for the link to what seems to be the hot pepper sister site to what the dearly departed overgrow.com just for peppers. I dint even know they were a perennial. it seems that their may even be some general knowledge that might apply to cannabis growing to be found there. might not be a bad site for members here to lurk about, for educational reasons

Fatalii.net and THP are a good place to start reading.

You are right, they can handle a longer day. I don't know how advisable 24hr is, atleast past seed starting, I still notice a nighttime growth spurt.

For soil/nutrients, the only thing to worry about is excess Nitrogen, it can impede flower development. If it claws with cannabis, it will flower drop with peppers. 5 gallon seems to be a standard minimum for atleast one good harvest. Peppers prefer a moist soil, but if you want to crank up the heat after fruit set, water stress increases capsaicin levels.

Pretty newb to peps myself, but I'm a yappity know it all, so anyone else feel free to chime in XD

Hey bro,

I've got some habaneros and cayenne setting fruit but also appear to be continuing to veg. I'm new to this, so are they unlike ganja in that they continue to veg and fruit simultaneously?

Thanks!

most pepper plants continue to grow till after the first batch of fruits. but i really don't see your description about cannabis that "they will continue to veg and fruit simultaneosly" being correct. same as with peppers, it happens just during the first part of the flowering cycle. I would say the cycles overlap a bit, not that it will continue to veg. my :2cents:.

If you read what I said, I didn't say cannabis continued to veg and fruit simultaneously. Obviously it doesn't.

I asked if peppers are unlike cannabis, as my peppers are still growing bigger and bigger, yet continuing to set fruit as they grow, so I've been harvesting for the last two months and continue to do so as they grow even bigger.

I'm sorry, I did read "like" instead of "unlike". It sometimes happens to me when high. But I hope my answer was somewhat helpful anyway..
I think the more they continue to grow after starting to fruit, the more healthy and well feed they are. So you must be doing a good job of taking care of them.

Has anyone ever tried, or made, ghost chili flakes ?

I use regular red pepper flakes but they are long gone in terms of heat for me...I was wondering how the ghost chili flakes taste ? Are they smokey ? How hot are they ?

I briefly looked and saw that you can get them on ebay.

I've heard the Bhuts have a smokey flavour, as well, many people describe it as "almost chemical". I pick up a Canadian brand in the grocery store periodically, but they are intentionally smoked.

I highly recommend avoiding Ebay. TheHotPepper forum has a number of reliable, honest vendors posting there, and reviews to get an idea of the producer.

As for hot, depends on how they're grown. If you can chew habaneros, you'll enjoy the bhut. I use anywhere from 1-10 for a cup of wing sauce.

I would know in a few monthes, but I managed to stunt the shiet out of my Bhuts and I'll be pinching buds until they get at least two feet. 2015 can't come soon enough XD

s13sr20det, totally jealous of those pods! They look great. How're you liking the peach bhut?

I think I'm on about 18 different forums online....all kinds of forums - fishing, weed, poker, etc....Not one forum do I have to pay to be a member of...I was really turned off that you have to pay to be a member of an online forum....

If I knew how to do it I would start my own hot pepper/hot sauce forum, and not charge people to be a member...

Yeah, it's kind of lame, but you can still get a free membership. The pay benefits are almost nil, besides easier pic uploading. The community is decent enough though, a lot of organic growers.

Damn, I was just in CR!!!! Heard of a local strain that's supposed to be stupid hot, didn't get to try any.

Oh well, my hots are doing pretty good anyway,... Bit late but looks like 2-3 dozen red savina, dozen or so scorpion and reapers, plenty of chocolate and standard orange habs...

For some reason tho my bhuts are not producing? Plants look healthy and are covered in flowers, but no pods yet! Flowers just die off.... Looks like I might get 2 on one plant but not counting on it.

Quick shot of my reapers!

This might help you with your bhuts / ghost peppers.
You need some PK nutrient. After that just wait, the small light green peppers are hard to differentiate from the foliage, they always surprise me once they grow a bit.

Also you could try to hand pollinate some flowers, but the first round of flowers is mostly wasted. That's why they produce so late compared to other peppers.
