fan size

hey guys....gonna buy a fan/filter combo...doing a little set up 500 watts....3x3 tent...SOG....im debating whether or not a 6 in fan/filter combo will be too strong -ie suck the walls of my tent in or if a 4 in fan/filter will be better suited for removing all the smell/heat in such a small place...if i buy the 6 in and then need a fan speed control it seems like it would make more sense just to buy the 4 inch from the start?

note the 4 inch is 175 cfm and the 6 inch is 430 cfm

I had a grow tent about that size with the 6" vortec that I'm still using now. I would say go for the 6" if you ever plan on expanding. You could probably get by with the 4" and either fan will suck the walls of the tent in with only a passive intake. I would have a fan speed controller too, regardless of fan size. It's just so much nicer to be able to dial the amount of air up or down accordingly. If you don't have any experience with fans like this then just remember, they are always going to be louder than you anticipate. Run insulated ducting regardless to keep that noise down and also plan on wrapping your fan if you have to be discreet.

thanks ill keep that in mind...as much as id like to expand i dont plan on it in the near future...im in a state with very strict laws and am keeping things as small as possible so i can have enough meds for my chronic pain symptoms...if the 4 inch will suck the smell out just as well id go with that...just leaves more room in the tent and if i dont need the full power of the 6 inch then theres no need to spend the extra money on it

More room in the tent? You have the fan in there? Why don't you have the fan outside the tent to save space?

well i was going to arrange it as such...carbon filter-fan-ducting...which would be going right outside the tent and exhausting the air outside the area....since its only 3x3 i wondered if it would save on room...either way...if the smaller fan will get rid of all the odors im happy with that...thanks
